Would a tall forward have been handy last night?

Crucial times in the third quarter all our shots on goal were from the pocket. Essendon had the corridor blocked.

Tall forwards - Thats a concept for TW to deal with.

What Tall Forwards.

The one gun forward Richo is out for another 10 weeks or so.

*smile*, too lazy too slow, too soft, he's out.

Hughes, we don't know what the hell is going on with Hughes and it appears
either does the club so he's out

Pollak, the tram has killed his career, most unlikely he'll play the game again.

Vickery, too young, too under developed. Goudis likewise. You could try these two kids it would be throwing them to the wolves in my book and bloody unrealistic to expect them to do the job that better paid non performing players should be doing.

Pattison, recruited as a CHF, never been given the chance and probably won't be either.

That leaves young Jack Riewoldt, he's in the Burg's still after kicking 6 goals last week, BUT right now he's the 3rd tall, not KPF.

The cupboard is bare well and truly bare.

Yes, you need structure up forward and because we have poor kicking skills we aren't able to hit small leading forwards laces out all night.

A structure needs 2 big strong forwards who take a grab but more importantly bring the smaller crumbers into the game.

Jack has to be in the team...and dare I mention "clean knees" Cleve.

They did try and recruit some talls in TW time.

Hughes,
Reiwoldt
Graham,
Vickery
Rance
Putt
Polak
Simmonds
Pattison
Limbach
McGuane
Thursfield
Post
Browne

Problem is that none of them are stars (Rance,Post, Vickery to early to judge).

Graham, Putt, Browne may make it as ruckmen with a few more years behind them
McGuane, Thursfield reasonable backman but not elite.

I'd continue to play Riewoldt in the forward line where he rightfully belongs.

*smile* down in the backline, too slow, doesn't tackle, he's been there and done
that, *smile* is a dead man walking, the pity of it is we're stuck with him in 2010,
unless another club has a suicide wish and agree's to a trade for him.

McGuane is a defender, I don't see forward in him, he's been backline since he arrived at RFC.

Playing forward's as back's and vice versa really is a panic proposition and it shows just how badly Richmond have recruited players over not only the last 5 years but the last decade plus. Clearly Richmond's recruitment is one issue, the other is the issue of player development and its here that the Tigers have fallen down oh so badly.

well.hence it's pretty important we get our hands on butcher in the draft

With the RFC strike rate of draftees we'd butcher Butcher!
