So... the afl concedes that a team is required in tassie but refuses to create another licence. The onus is on one of the victorian teams to make the move. The afl has learnt from the fitzroy disaster and the offer involves not only multiple high draft concessions and a massive financial injection, but the club is given assistance to maintain its Vic roots as well as being invited to corner the tassie market.

The club gets to keep its traditional jumper, song, and its name is incorporated into the new team name.

Do we take the plunge and become the Richmond Tassie Tigers?

I could live with that better than Sydney, Gold Coast or wherever else the AFL deemed fit to plonk a team. At least we have some pretty strong links with Tassie - names like Hart and Richooooo.

Do we stick with tradition or follow the dollar, knowing that the extra draft picks and the money will set us up pretty well for a flag. Or two. Or three....?

I've posted a few times (and got shot down in flames :peep ) that I would have loved us to play some games in Tassie rather than at the Dump. We have a great Tassie connection and to me it was an ideal opportunity to cash in on an untapped membership market. The Hawks did what I would have supported Richmond doing.

No way I'd support Richmond relocating permanently.

The Richmond Fotball Club will always be the Tigers, sadly down the track, such a move is likely to become vital to our survival. I too, would support the Tiges if they were based interstate.

The Swans on TV gave South supporters new life, a good friend and loyal Fitzroy supporter has become more passionate about the game since Brisbane became football gods.

The really sad part about all this is the loss of the six games each week in Melbourne. We have less live footy now than we have ever had, so the race has been won and lost......

If I could have anything, I would have the old V.F.L. every time.

Agree to a degree.

I still like the community feel of standing in the outer where the kids kick the ball, beiing able to have a beer and a pie, stand and chat, move around the ground and get onto the ground for a kick and to get at the huddles.

Real footy the way it used to be.

For those reasons i rarely if ever attend AFL fixtures anymore, i much prefer to go watch the Coburg side and enjoy the social and intiment atmosphere of local footy.

This thread is *smile*. The only way the RFC would ever have to relocate would be due to complete and total mismanagement. If this club is run properly off the field, like it seems to be at the moment, we will be in Melbourne forever. FFS we made $1million profit last year off 3.5 wins. If we could actually win a few games and god forbid compete in a finals series every now and then we'd be up there with Collingwood and Essendon as Melbourne powerhouses.

If we were ever in a position that we had to relocate before the likes of North Melbourne, Melbourne, Bulldogs, St.Kilda then we would have completelt *smile* up as a club. This should never happen.

Alan Bond mooted the move when he was President.....that seems eons ago.

I would rather see the Tigers stay at Punt Road BUT if push came to shove and it meant long term survival I would reluctantly see them go.....BUT....I would stay a Tigers fan !

But in reality I cant see it happening.

I'd love to see this happen. If for no other reason than the fact that if it did the AFL would do whatever it could to ensure that the Tigers would win a flag in the next 5 years.

Do what Hawthorn has done and play in Tassie against Freo,Port etc
Imagine the party on the ferry after a good Tigers win.

That would be a small party compared to the one after we beat a real team down there!

Good blody post and well explained...i totally agree 100%

Well i started the thread and I don't particularly want it to happen either... But the whole tassie push is becoming interesting and I was raising a theoretical scenario to gauge reaction out there in poster land.

So ridley, astute tiger and ian4 - can you all please go pass the peace pipe and relax. take a deep breath, and imagine a cool green forest. or a calm blue ocean (or should that be a calm blue bass strait?!)

or even better, read my first post again. I wasn't suggesting that the club is going broke, being poorly managed or looking to relocate. :duhman

I was asking for posters' opinions on whether the club should jump if the theoretical opportunity arose. eg what price would you be prepared to pay for a flag?

Amazing post grumpy one ur pretty much wanting to get feed back off posters, well i simply agreed with ridley....its a forum if u didnt know everyone has their own thoughts and not all will agree with you, if anyone needs..... the peace pipe and relax. take a deep breath, and imagine a cool green forest. or a calm blue ocean (or should that be a calm blue bass strait?!) as u so mildly put it id suggest u take ur own advice....Take a chill pill, no one abused you or ridiculed you...

The RICHMOND Football Club wont go anywhere...I hope. No proactive moves, we are one of the big boys, we have a huge fan base, if we win a flag, we will make enough money to buy a new lisence.
