Team against Ireland, Foley not picked

Agree Irish Stu, apart from one early clanger, Axel showed very good touch and brought others into the game (especially Pendlebury who incidentally had a good last Qtr).

I would like other country's football codes to be invited, to measure whether others can make the transition. Being a round ball makes it possible. Clearly the tackling makes that difficult for the soccer fraternity, but there are skills there that would also be hard to counter. Asking NFL to take their crash-test padding off would be interesting ;).

Let's face it, it would be decades (if ever) for our traditional game to ever get close to some sort of international level - the current International format with the Irish, at least gives it a slight chance - which is better than no chance at all!

The main problem with most countries in trying to get Aussie rules off the ground is space. Unless they play cricket most fields are soccer rectangles

What steams me about these games is that we're playing with both hands tied behind our backs because we've made so many compromises to our game (and now with 3rd rate players), yet it's still seen as a competition between Ireland and Australia on a level playing field. I saw a pommie comment somewhere once along the lines of how 'the highly paid, brawny Australian professionals are regularly beaten at their own game by the skinny Irish amateurs'. Of course the poms love to rub our noses in sporting loses, but it really gives me the !
Give them an oval ball and it would be embarrassingly one sided.....even against the Demons.

More seagulls than human beings at the G tonight.

What a waste this game is.

At least the Axe knows how to sing the Aussie song. ;D

Just got back from the game and I am disgusted at the side that was selected. The most wussy, weak, small side ever put out in an international series. What happend to the day when we had gun forwards like Hall, Lloyd,Pavlich, ect playing? Now we have HFF playing deep and getting slaughtered!

The palyers out there did their best, this game was lost before it even started with team selection.

The game is a joke mate, would not waste my hard earned on that crap.

The game was poor anyway, now because of the sooking Irish, they change the game to make it even softer. Cant stomach watching our tough men playing that weak sport.

It's a joke, why not just have State of Origin at the end of the year?

One of the worst sports I have ever witnessed.

Not the best spectacle I agree, but you always enjoy supporting your country no matter what !!

Aussies just not smart enough to play that game. The irish are just lighting at passing the ball and giving it off blindly to their own team mates. We tend to hold onto the ball longer in our game because of the shape of it, wheras they are used to the round ball and can dish off so much quicker.

is it just me or since the big v game this year, but it seem to have gone to foleys head, has realy played that well since it, thot lids should have got pick before foley in the international rules
