Team changes - round 3 v Western Bulldogs

Nathan Foley has lost most of his pace to the point he brings very little value to the side - see how he goes I suppose over the next few weeks - but it is heartbreaking to see a great player the shadow of his former self - retirement beckons I am sorry to say.

true tigertime2 it is sad to see Foley a shadow of his former self. maybe start him from the start in the centre to gain his confidence to just run.
I don't know. Just sad to see. His run and carry before injuries cruelled him was great to watch.

Dimma stated in his press conference that they can't wait to have Jackson and Thomas in the same side.
2 big bodies at the ball should be good.

Conca could miss next week, looks like a hammy twinge maybe.

If that's the case :

Out : Conca, Foley

In : Knights, Jackson

That aint bad depth.

Looked pretty lame on the news but they said RFC saying it's just cramp.

Out: King, Foley, Morris, Chaplin & Newman
In: Jackson, Gordon, Knights, Edwards & Lennon as sub

You think they'll make 5 changes?

Hardwick is always conservative with his changes. Expect Jackson to come in, probably for Foley. If there are any other changes it will probably be Knights coming in for either King or Morris. King might survive the cut because he's a bit underdone so he'll probably get another week but Morris was terrible last night and he could go and Newman or Petterd brought down back to make room for Knights in the forward line. As much as I like Morris I don't think it would hurt to give him a run in the 2s to learn accountability. The good news is that we have some good players returning from injury so spots in the side will be hard fought.

Doubt it with 2 years left on his contract.

Time remaining on contract doesn't mean anything if the body is not up to it. I want axel to become damaging again - always liked him as a player. However he has had no impact whatsoever coming on as sub in R1 & R2. I do fear he has lost the thing that made him such a dangerous player to the opposition - his run and ability to break the lines to drive the ball forward and deep. Without that, Axel does not bring much to the table and although I hope this is not the case, he won't be the 1st footballer to have his career cruelled & cut short by injury.

If Griffo stays fit and keeps his form its going to pose major selection headaches in a few weeks when Maric returns. Consider this, we will have a lopsided tall team that will be as slow as a wet week. Maric Hampson Griffo Vickery Riewoldt Chaplin Rance Astbury Grimes that's almost 40 % of the team that are talls! Add to that the lack of pace from Grigg Newman Thomas and we will get flogged by quick teams. Which tall/s get dropped ?????

The odds are , they will never be all fit and injury free at the same time , so the depth is good ,

But im concerned with the lack of pace in our squad too.

Not sure what you mean by that in regards to Nathan. Surely it depends on individuals. Maybe he has a clause to only be on the list if he's fit but I'd be surprised if that was the case. If not he's under no obligation to retire. Maybe he'd retire if he was paid out. I wouldn't have a clue but if he's being paid I think we'd keep him on the list. Would we pay him out for nothing? I'd be very surprised if the club or Nathan are considering his retirement at this stage. People are sticking the boots in a bit soon. He's only had 2 quarters, both 10+ possessions as sub, into the season. I hope it's part of his development and he improves each week. He'll be around for a while yet.

I think he cleared the ball that got to Martin for the last goal. the resulting kick to the forward line won the game, the Martin goal just iced the cake.

morris has to come out in my opinion, his shoulder is absolutely stuffed, and he's very messy and just plain dumb around the contest at the moment. dalhuase may be a problem for us this week though

would love knights and Jackson to come in

also don't know enough about Gordon or Lloyd but maybe one of them to come in for ???
