bling didnt deserve to be included... not named in the best... nice 2 c that hughes kiked 4 goals 4 the burgers n got in the best...

I have no problems with the side that was selected.
krak-Had to go.
Foley-A tad unlucky however a good omission in the sense that we need speed over there.

Humm-Is as tough as Foley but has pace.
Tambling-Hmmmmmmm tough one.On one hand he,s very lucky and should earn his spot however as we have picked a "horses for coarses" side his inclusion was logical.Lets hope he can step up to the occassion.
Roach-Good on Thomas for putting his head down and ass up.Massive game for him.

Sounds like we are focussed on thier plan again, rather than ours.

Wouldn't it be interesting if we went in with our own attack plan, maybe three talls in the forwardline perhaps, and forced THEM to alter their team and bring in a couple of their second rate talls as defenders?

We could have a small victory before we even hit the field

Reasonably happy with those selections. No doubt Foley can be considered unlucky but IMO is not a long term AFL player. Too small, not quick enough and doesn't do enough damage when he gets the ball. Just an average footballer. That said, he'll probably play 200 games for RFC :P

Conversely Tambling can be considered lucky but has genuine class. Hopefully he starts to show it soon. Good to see Krakouer finally out and I'm keen to see how Roach goes. Like Foley, I don't think he's up to it but he gets his chance to disprove that.

Krak is out :clap

Great to see Roach break into the senior squad, that boy has worked his backside off.

I think Foley is out just to balance this side not based on performance imo. We must need to get as much pace into the side as possible.
if they are worried about pace at subiaco drop pettrified.

One is a midfielder, the other is a forward capable of kicking a bag - three goals last time we played the Eagles from three shots. As long as he converts regularly, his pace is irrelevant IMO. Would like to see him make a few more tackles stick though...
the 2 goals he gets most games is more than nullified by the 4 or 5 he costs us with his opponent running of him. i bet worsfold plays wirrapunda on him for just that reason.

Which regular small forward of ours wouldn't Wirripunda run off? As for Pettifer costing us 4-5 goals a game through his direct opponent...I'd love to hear just one actual example of that ever happening...let alone a number of them.

The day we start structuring our forward line around only midfield types incase they need to chase the Wirripunda's of the world - rather than who can kick goals at a good conversion rate - I suspect you'll be hollering that our attack is p!ssweak coz it can't kick goals.

The glass is always half empty for some! ;)

I think both Roach and Tambling have been included because they're quick and as the preview said the side has a distinct lack of pace. Is Humm quick? I remember seeing him during the NAB Cup match against Hawthorn, but not sure if he had much pace. The ruck is a concern. Simmo's done okay the last couple of weeks, but could get monstered by Cox and that would assist their midfield.

Tambling may well have come in as the bloke to play on Wirripunda...similarly, Roach may get a tagging role in midfield on a pacey opponent - big challenge for both of them.

Simmonds didn't ruck against Cox last year - only Seaby who he beat fairly easily. We may possibly throw Rayzor up against Cox in the centre as well as tagging around the ground and concede that match-up ruck wise, in the hope that Simmonds can dominate against Seaby.

It's a plan with some merit IMO...providing Rayzor is recovered enough to stand up to it...can't afford to lose him for next week.

Wallace has said all week you need a quicker team to play at Subi and that is the way they have gone, whether you agree of not with some of the selections. Fact is people are being given an opportunity it is up to them now to take it.

One thing this thread shows is that no matter what the club does they are never going to please some people around here. ;)

Just hope the players go in with a bit more of a positive attitude than some supporters. :hihi

Sending players back to Coburg to enable selection of players more suited to a particular game each week is a luxury we haven't had for far too long.

I long for the day that's the norm rather than the exception and it isn't looked on as punishment or individual failure.

We'll be a better and far less predictable side for it.

Good ins and outs bar Roach. For the life of me I don't know what Terry sees in him.

All the pre-season talk about Roach coming out of Wallace & co was along the lines of him maybe developing into a close checking defensive midfielder, no better way to test this theory than against the best midfield in the comp on their own fast track.

As with Foley, he has been named as the 23rd player so he aint too far away, misses out purely on leg speed.

for crying out loud! here i thought the ferals would be here gloating and celebrating krak has been dropped. but no, they just go and bag someone else. the reality is claw, is that pettifer is now our number 1 inside 50 man. i wanted the guy sacked 2 years ago like you, but now no one here on this website has the right to bag him. pettifer is now one of the first picked every week and rightly so.
if you think pettifer is a player fine.if you rate him fine. but dont tell me i cant bag him when i know hes a dud.
when and if he ever becomes a well rounded footballer i will stop bagging him. we all know its never going to happen.
most ferals thought krakouer was a good player and *smile* kellaway gaspar and others what a bloody joke.. pettifer has huge deficiencies and as soon as he starts hurting teams teams will man him up and make him accountable. he will then go missing like he always does.. his direct opponents do run of him ad nauseum hes shown no respect and it kills us.
when you look at pettrified ask yourself and be honest, how many starting 22s would he make and the answer is just 1 and hopefully thats not for long. i know who will be proven right over time.
as for *smile* he will miss just one week regardless of performance at coburg. and let me tell you noone is happier than me about his axing from the seniors im just hoping its permanent.
