"I knew more about Tim than I did about Tucky, but basically the bottom line when I made a decision was with the age difference.

"If Tucky was going to make it, he was going to with all the kids we drafted, where Fleming's career was going to be over by the time those kids had matured. So I went with Shane in the hope he'd come through.   TW from the HUN Tuck article

IF IN DOUBT GO WITH YOUTH.  And all the people spake with one voice saying "Amen to that brother".

LOL...nice pick up and well presented Bill...amen indeed! :thumbsup

Personally, I thought there was a lot to like about Tucky's brief stint under Frawley...thought his booming kick, big motor and huge physique for a midfielder marked him out as well worth a development spot on the list considering how badly we lacked all three of those things with ou then midfield.

He was given only three games (Rnds 14-16 in 2004) under Spud. Never got less than 11 possessions and spent a fair proportion of those games on the bench. For what its worth Blumfield played the same three games and never go more than 9 possessions.

The club did not have a well performed and settled list in 2004 so why wasn't he given more of a go by Spud? We all know the answer, obviously Shane does too.

Cant believe he was even considering keeping Tim Fleming. He had minimal skills.

Cheers
