Team to travel to Subiaco

Any idea when the travelling squad will be announced? Can't be too far away!

Squads for Friday announced today, so ours would be no later than Friday you'd think.

My lets-have-a-look-at-em team would be:

King mcg moore
Newy post rance
White polo Edwards
Connors jack morton
Nahas hughes putt
Graham lids axel
thomson raines jacko collins hislop patto

I suppose the other approach would be to go for broke to win the thing and take the most senior team to the contest. Three outcomes:
• Firstly the juniors would have to make do with making their impressions to get a senior gig at training and then VFL games. Sounds reasonable. Makes ‘em earn it.
• Seniors face a long season and could end up injured during the main event. This would allow for the trial of juniors during the season putting the finals at risk (but perhaps not – that’s just a negative viewpoint).
• Could begin the birth of a winning culture around the place and cement in the minds of the up-and-comers that we’re in it to win it (ie everything) from now on – could be a more valuable lesson than just getting a few senior games against mediocre opposition.

In which case the team I’d take to Subi would be (assuming injuries to Cousins, Chimp, Schulz, Macca, Johnno and Bling):

Newy thursty jon
moore mcg white
edwards tuck lids
morton jack richo
Brown hughes patto
simmo axel polo
Jbo connors jackson raines post thomson

I’d go the second route – lets cash in on the positive energy around the place and try to get as much momentum leading into the real season. OK we may fall away towards the end - and we may not, there’s a lot of competition for places in the team now and plenty of decent substitutes in the event of injuries – but at least we’ve given everything a red hot crack.

Richo, Simmo, & Browny will play according to reports.

see http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/story/0,26576,25039724-19742,00.html

hope we get to see some youngsters, such as Nahas, Post, Vickery, Putt, etc.

Moore Thursfield Post

Raines Rance Tambling

Edwards Tuck Newman

Deledio Jack Morton

Nahas Steamee White

Gus - Thomson Foley

Bench from - Connors, Hislop, McMuffin, Jackson, Gilligan, Coughlan, Lace Out , Vickery and Pattison.

No matter how i want to avoid it Jackson and McMuffin will both play hence in my side on the bench.

Play a few kids leave the fossils at home and the other fringe types in Schulz, Polo, Victa Nicholls etc can stay home too.
Got part of your wish, craig. McMuffin isn't playing. It was in the paper today, but Cogs is injured again :(

Post is playing for sure. His dad was on SEN this morning talking about bush fires and then they offered him 2 tickets to fridays game and he said he couldnt make it as he was flying to perth to watch his son play his first game, they asked who his son was and he said Post. So i guess the big fella is in for sure. Good luck to him for sunday and may he have a wonderful afl career with the yellow and black

Post was always going to play after his performance last week.

Newman also said at least one player from last year's draft will play, so it's unlikely Post would just be an emergency either (the other reason why his dad could fly up).

I think I read somewhere that Rance will be "rotated" through the squad. Thought it would be nice for him to play over there, but who knows.

I will try to find it....
