Jimmy_12 said:Obviously a loss is a loss is a loss, and you play footy to win (well a club like Richmond does anyway), so call this a loser's mentality if you want. But I honestly reckon we can take more from tonight than they can. Pure talent is what got them over the line tonight, nothing more. Not ticker, not brains, and (lol) certainly not good coaching.
On talent alone, when you consider both clubs' lists and their stages of development, St Kilda should beat us by 10 goals with their eyes closed. As it was they beat us by 11 points. We were never going to get close to winning the premiership this year end of story, and as much as the supporters might be sick of hearing it we've got some good kids and we really are headed in the right direction.
On the other hand St Kilda are supposedly a contender. As someone who was at the game tonight I can say they certainly didn't look like it. There's no way in hell they're going to win a flag in the next few years playing like they did tonight, and yet their list is meant to be at its peak.
I was really proud of our boys tonight, and if that's a loser's mentality then so be it. Aside from injuries, I'd be a lot more concerned about tonight's match if I were a Saints fan than as a Tiger.
I agree with the positive sentiment - as for taking things out of the game, besides pride in having had a go the only thing we are taking out of the game is between 3-5 forced changes.
Whoever said play the kids against St Kilda ought to have another good hard look at the tackle laid on Schulz.
