Team vs Sydney

White is very lucky to make the team - you'd think that he needs a big game on Sunday to keep his place.

Despite being his VP I'd have to agree. Have said it before, his confidence is shot, and I don't see what the club or player is gaining from him staying in the side at the moment. Drop him, maybe even keep him out of Coburg for the rest of the season and let him freshen up a bit for a big preseason.

I think he will be on our list next year, but he needs a good year to stay beyond that.

still no Thomson what an inspired choice that was. Cameron gave the tick to that trade.

why are brown and mcmahon still in the team. thought we were in development mode.

Don't mind Patto too much, but I agree with playing Graham this week. Need a bigger body to compete with Jolly.

Well he cannot go any worse then last week. :-\

How he has survived is beyond me.

What a first up assignemt for Thomo, B Kirk :o

Just on White, I actually think he and Jacko are too of the few tht have been handled well y the football club, both have been given roles for a period of time in the development and they have been used both in these roles at Coburg and AFL and ala Jackos role as a leading marking forward (TW thought Jacko is a lot like Matty Robbins ex Dogs ;D ) then when it failed they went back to the drawing board and tried to re create. Obviously White had that forward pressure role lasy year and chased hard , however 11 goals in a season is nowhere near enough and also with the upgrade of Nahas he wasnt needed there.

Is Thomson Playing Tommorow?

A few people have said he is playing, how can it be?, he was not named as an emergency, Is he playing or is it just a rumour coz he didnt play at Coburg according to thread reports

Re: Is Thomson Playing Tommorow?

Thomson was crook - that's why he didn't play for Coburg.

He has had an injury problem with his sternum (don't know exactly what), but that is the reason why he hasn't been able to get a crack at Richmond thia year.

His Coburg form has been reasonable.

Been struggling with the sternum problem since he came over. Tried to hit the weights in preseason and was flat out benching 25kgs.
Seems he can still play moderate footy but no power through the chest and shoulders.

another case where we should have taken the long term view and not played thompson until he was right?

I don't its harming Thomson by having him run around for Coburg, keeps him in the footy loop. He's still throwing himself around, so if any discomfort is being felt, its not affecting him too much. Hopefully he's been told not to push himself too much this year, get a good preseason into him and push for the seniors next year.

The only harm comes from supporters who are calling him a dud trade.

If you watched Tom play as a junior you'd have seen him displaying exactly the same skill. Give him time to develop and he'll show it for Richmond too.

No one was saying Hislop is anywhere near Coughlan at his best, or even as he is now. I was suggesting that you're too dismissive of Hislop's contributions and that Coughlan wasn't really the ideal player to replace him in the side as far as positions go.

Disco maybe a good inside player would have helped today, perhaps even more valuavble than Tommy's 9 possession 3 clanger 1 tackle, no goal game.
