So tell us about your encounters with Essendon supporter friends/family/work mates etc you had today (in person or otherwise).

In my virtual world I had kept copies of (sh*t stirring) emails from bummer supporters from earlier this year after we lost to them and replied to them again in kind :)

In my real world I wore my RFC shirt and tie to work today since there's at least 3 co-workers and one of my bosses who are bummer supporters. Needless to say I had heaps of fun today :hihi

Not quite from the current era, but one of my best moments was going to the 1995 2nd semi final with a group of mates, one of which was a Bomber supporter. He was giving us heaps till 3/4 time, but we bid him a fine fairwell as he left with his tail between his legs half way through the last quarter oh so grand.

And he had the cheek to give it to Rexy who predicted a Tiger comeback at half time on the MCG big screen. ;D

When Sheedy was sacked and it was announced that there would be a hige farewell at our game, I had a group of Essendon supporting tools on the floor laughing about how they were looking forward to sending them out winners as Richmond never worries them blah blah blah

Rest assured, every single one of their desks was paid a visit this morning ;)

Unfortunate that no Essendon supporters work at work, but I wore my Tiger jumper to work anyway.

At the game they seemed quite quiet, like described in the Herald today, that it was kind of like a wake of sorts.

Feisty,
It was similar at my work...very quiet.
One had a crack at me, saying that it was a great night, and that the Richmond players probably wished they played for a club that gave 2 of their greats such a send off.
I simply reminded them that the send-off given to them was losing to one of the worst Richmond teams in history, and if that is how you lot send out your champions, then I;m sure the Tiger players are quite happy where they are thanks... :hihi
The room went quiet again. ;D

The Bombers at work are pretty soft so there wasn't much of a payout given today. Had an email waiting when I got in that said simply "Not a word!".

The CEO is also a Bomber, but he's off the hook as he got me some tickets.

Well i got $5 off a kid at school because i betted him Richmond were going to win.

I think most Richmond supporters just knew somehow we were in for a win.

The 1995 final against Essendon.

There with my Dad, and my mates came all the way around to give us a fair bit of curry at half time because we were so far behind.

You may recall the game turned.

We didn't hear from them at full time :)

With 5 minutes left in the Game, I was watching a fair few supporters leaving!!

I yelled to them "where are you going......what about Hirdy?" For some reason they wouldn't look back!!

Then some clown in front said it must be fun at the bottom!! To which i replied, "it must be fun when you can't even beat the bottom side" He too was very quiet after that!!

these bombers fans are soft!!! i expected a bit of an argument, but they gave me nothing!!

Was Fun giving it to them all the same :hihi

Story 1
1995 Final v essendon me and a mate had the misfortune to sit next to that Nick guy from Wogs Out of Work. half his comedy act was about growing up in Richmond, and there he was supporting the bombers, and loudly too till Turner switched O 'Donells lights off, he dissappeared before the final siren.
Story 2
When Essendon got caught cheating the salary cap 10 odd years ago, their accountant at the time nobly put his hand up to take the rap and avoid the club getting in extra strife. He was actually a Richmond supporter, till that moment, then the freebies starting rolling in......he turned!
Now its a great delight to remind him of those days.

1- The 1995 semi final- When we were behind by 5 goals this bummer ####head turned around and taunted us, I just stayed calm! One hour later Daffy slammed a goal, quickly followed by another from Justin Charles and so on...... This bummer coward then proceeded to exit the ground and we just gave it to him!!!! That day I was so proud to be a Richmond supporter.

2- I have often reminded many a squealing bummer, that it actually took a Richmond person to make them into the side they became. Usually they have no comeback to this!!

3- Sunday night- The sportsmanship on the field was terrific, however in the stands it was a different story. Everytime we play essendon I always get into fights/arguments with their "supporters". This never happens with other supporters! Why is it so???

So was it you in the MCC stands having a barney on Sunday evening??

I was with my kids in the MCC members enclosure, surrounded by 20,000 bummer supporters. Dying seconds of the game, the Che shows the ball to the crowd, then boots the ball away. A bummer supporter near me yells.."your a knob Richo". The ball then flies straight back and Richo takes a strong mark over Loyd. I glance at the guy, smile & say sarcastically..."that's right buddy...Richo's a knob". Siren sounds & we are belting out the song....loved it!!

I think everyone in the MCC was disappointed and mentaly scared after what they saw. Some had to go to councelling, others wanted financial compensation for the minutes of game time lost because of people standing up and blocking their view.

Yea, the supporters leaving before the match was over just proves what Essendon supporters are, no brainers. Many dont even know their own players. I live in the suburb, so when we gave it to them in 95 they all knew about it!

I started singing the theme song to the sales manager at work yesterday, he just didnt know what to say.

My quote of the day was "Payback for the Matty Knights send off"

Last time I betted a kid at school Richmond was going to win was the 1972 Grand Final.

Boy did I learn a lesson not to put my money where my mouth is.

In the dreamtime game earlier this year sat behind the most humourless essendon supporter. At one stage my friend yelled joking -"you are a dud Hird" this guy turned around and said "*smile* mate" and then in the dying seconds sat with his eyes closed and both finger crossed. Seriously I looked every where for that guy on sunday..

What I do notice about essendon is large numbers of young blokes getting really p***ed and agro. especially after a loss.

One of the things that makes our game different from soccer is the amount of families that come to the footy, the AFL really needs to stamp out these idiots that are not family friendly.

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or elsewhere. Looks like an essendon fan lost a bet. This was in the public notices in the HUN today. ;D

"MOS, I hereby acknowledge that Richmond is a far, far better side than Essendon and always will be. In fact I think you are certainties for the flag next year. Regards-Langers. "
