Can't say I'd ever heard of the term "tempo" before but whichever radio station I was listening to claimed the runner went out and told the players "tempo".
The players started their ridiculous kick to kick to standing targets across the CHB line. Richo said after the game that he never heard the tempo order but it started when the runner went to the backline not the forward line.
If the coach didn't want that surely the runner would have ordered them to stick with what got them in front in the first place. I looked at the clock and say it was the 20 minute mark and said to my husband this crap is going to cost us the game. It was far too early and our lead too tenuous.
We've paid the price before when we've shut up shop in the last quarter trying to protect a lead and the bottom line is we blew it last night. Those tactics played straight into the Bummers hands.
