So when the article says "Greg Swann said the club had been made aware Richmond was talking up its chances in the season opener"...Greg Swann didn't say that???? The only pump up article about Richmond all summer was the one that you refer to about Miller and that has nothing to do with round 1. Where has Richmond been talking up its chances in the season opener??

Read the article again and see what Swann actually said. Forget the journalist adding the thoughts to pump it up.

Swann is highlighting that the team is being set for the real stuff and not to win the pre season cup which they have won recently. It has nothing to do with Richmond. It just happens they play them in round 1. Its just about senior players being rested in the NAB and anyone with any injury concerns and pre seson training is geared towards being ready for the start of the season and not being cherry ripe for the NAB cup.

Neither Richmond nor Carlton are talking up round 1. Just a journalist filling up an article with some fluff. Spokesman on either side will talk it up as it gets much closer but not in January.

Anything not included in actual quotes these days in an article is just specualtion from a journalist depending on how they want to slant an article.
