PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

I haven't seen this update posted and it's late, and I'm beat so apologies if this is duplicated elsewhere.

Was frustrated waiting for this interview as I was going out with a friend where we were due to be somewhere at 6, they were kind enough to sit in the car and wait while i listened to it before we went in for dinner lol so apologies once more if it's a bit sketchy or missing info.

Kane Johnson Said he was a outstanding leader in tough times, it's easier to lead when things are going well,. much harder to lead in tough times. Last year when we won 3 and half games it was a dark time and the players always stayed tight, together and focused. Understanding where they were going. Kane was a big part of that, kept things in order and positive.

Captaincy When asked if there was a chance for a dual captaincy, conceded things had changed in football but Richmond has never in it's history had more than one Captain and that heritage should be respected/remembered. They won't be going down that track. Joked it would be hard to have two No. 17's running around and he doubted the AFL would allow that. Stated Richo was already revered at the club and for the first time was getting the respect and adoration of the football world outside the club. He didn't need to have the captaincy to be the embodiment/key figure down at Punt Rd. Also stated he didn't think it was only or the coaches call, said the players were the ones going into battle every week and out on the field it was important they had the biggest say in it.

Graham Polak When asked how his recover is going in relation to playing again he was quick to say it's not even a question of him playing again right now, it's just good for him to be with the boys and helps his recovery.

Mark Coughlan Was in awe of what they do in Germany. Says he has not missed a beat since being back. He could have played body wise but they felt he needs to get some games under his belt at VFL level and take it slow and gradual. He's been able to do everything asked of him since coming back. Appears to be flying. When asked if he can make it back his view was we will know soon enough at the start of the season. Feels he will either be playing straight away and contributing, will be good for him to get a full summer/pre-season in beforehand. If he isn't playing/contributing at the start of the season felt he was probably going to struggle and it was going to be a much longer road back then. Feels confident about him, the main thing now is he has been out of footy so long he has lost his power, he needs to get his ability to burst away from/through packs and that is what he will be working on in summer.

Trent Cotchin Big wrap for him, said they were watching him for a season or two beforehand and if he had been able to sign him, he would have played him at 16! that was how highly he thought of him.

May well have missed some bits, was just a short interview though. Went for about 10/15 minutes so that is the geist of it, someone else who heard it might be able to fill out more.
