Not sure whether such thread exists, if it is please merge.

For those that watched the game live on Saturday, and for those that have watched the replay, what did we all think about the RFC allowing TW to be wired up and summarise his thoughts of the team to the whole world each quarter?

Myself, I thought it was a great idea, allowing me to listen to his thoughts on what was going on - great initiative overall.

I have only one remark from this innovation, if anyone has this game taped, fast forward to 9 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. As the channel 10 commentators cross over to TW, he was about to talk on the phone to the staff on the bench. He immediately lifts up his hand facing the bench to say, 'hold on', and he continues to give his comments to the Channel 10 commentators.

What was everyone else thoughts on this innovation?

Very captivating stuff GPB no doubt about it. But not a big fan of it just the same.

I don't see the need for us to be continually inviting the media into the "inner sanctum" (now there's a Frawleyism for you !) all the time. On a few occassions in that telecast you could almost make out the odd comment from the rest of the crew around him. Bit too close to home for me that sort of stuff.

I know he's smart enough to not give anything important away, but I'm just old fashioned: the less the opposition knows about you the better.

Are we giving the info away for free or getting some dollars? Really, promotion of the club isn't enough in this instance.

With stuff like this, undoubtedly the club is trying to attract more direct media focus on it so that it can lift its profile and thus command a higher rate with sponsors.

isn't tw doing that leigh matthews inspired idea where he gives a pre-game speech to some high paying members to raise revenue?

Well, I can tell you Laguna & Casey would be smiling with the Laguna Whitsundays advertising.

I would just like to add that if our Marketing Department knew this was going to happen, they should have had advertising for our sponsor for the night Silver Top Taxis  ;) and other sponsorship signs for Hummel  :hihi, Coco-Cola, & Carlton Draught - Now that's the way to make money, don't you think?
Anyway, the M&S team will learn from their mistakes. ;)

Good of TW to do it but I don't really think he gave anything away nor did it excite me much.Doubt if it will bring us in any extra dollars.

how is that much different to tw making comments on air? (apart from us not making any money from it)

Dunno Ian Stewart. Maybe just the fact that the thing he does before the games is with a select few who contribute a lot of money and would therefore be likely to be part of or at least close to the club, whereas the other is broadcast to all and sundry for free (at present).

Would love to have them cross to TW at exactly the sametime when Joel shat himself and spilled the mark

I don't really give a rats about it. If it generates a few more bucks then so be it. Good on 'em. Wallace knows what he's doing anyway. I'm just old fashioned and prefer the "closed door" approach I guess. Make 'em all play with short back and sides and garters I say !
