Terry's Gameplan - The Corral/Mark

Theory has it, that you are blocking the transfer of play to the middle and allowing the opposition to go down the line which stems a quick flow. You would prefer the opposition to go for a short one over the top instead of going to inboard. Good teams make this look good.

But, what happens with us, is that they just keep on chipping over and they eventually kick a goal.

Couldn't agree more, and was having a whinge about this the other week actually... Hi Josh :) Why aren't our boys on the mark, and trying to inch forward, in an attempt to get a smother/getting a tap at the ball???

I won't even touch on the total lack of shepherding... :-X

Tezza is creating a team of 'weak' net ballers, no offense ladies as you would be harder to get past then most RFC players atm.

I think Terry should see his time out and be given another 3 years after his 5. He should be given total support and let him get it right as long as it takes. Every time we change coaches we start again. Another 5 year plan. I think he will eventually get our team to fire all at once. It may take a couple or so more years but the youngsters will fire up. Just look at geelong and how long it took Thompson to get it right. 7 Years. How good is it that they didn't get rid of him even though the members and media (inc. sam newman) were calling for his head. I can assure u that if they had replaced him they would not have won the flag. It is the only way.

There's a difference between a bad tactic and bad execution. Well I reckon you're right, ht, and we're a bloody good illustration of that.

On the corralling thing, very team does it. It standard. And the reason they do it is simple. They crunch numbers. They calculate percentages. It's the percentage play. If you can play.

I could agree with this if i'd seen an improvement in our side since Terry took over. I haven't. Therefore he must go.

You cant just say lets not sack him because it hasnt worked in the past. He hasnt worked in the past either. He isnt working! I will give him 1-2 games to win in the next few weeks. We have Freo, Bullies, Geelong, St Kilda and Hawthorn. I dont see us beating these teams.

Why do Richmond play such a complicated brand of footy.
Just move the ball forward Richmond so that all teammates know what you are doing.
Our captain has a very bad habit of looking backwards before moving forward.

I like the point Tigerx2, its positive and well made. However, it suffers from too assumptions, the first is that in 4 years time (after 2008) we will be in a position to win a premiership, unfortunately I sincerely have my doubts and secondly it assumes that the Wallace has shown enough in his first five year term, particularly in the the brand of footy that the Tigers are playing to warrant a three year extension.

For me as a side which can't handle pressure football and can't apply it either (and I am NOT saying no-one isn't giving it there all when they are on the park) I would rather Wallace see out his five years and then the Board see whats out there before even thinking of committing to Wallace again. I'd actually rather try someone else because I just don't like the type of football we are playing at the moment. Quite frankly, it seems to make us look like the the biggest bunch of pansies in the AFL and flower power isn't what I would like the RFC to be renowned for.

Though pansies will grow well after a liberal chicken manuring. ;D

It's the failure to shepherd that gets me. :pullhair If we had the highest number of handballs for the round then we should have had the highest number shepherds shouldn't we? Isn't that what your taught as a kid. You give off then immediately shepherd to give your team mate time and space, otherwise it's just a cheap possession. Especially if, like us, you string together 5 handballs for a gain of 10 metres, if each one comes with a shepherd then the bloke on the end of the succession of handballs should be 20 metres in the clear shouldn't he? Instead, because of all the selfish unaccountable crap he's got three blokes on his hammer instead of none!

Wake up Tigers!
;D The only shepherds these days are in Afghanistan. :spin :spin :spin
