Terry's WCE review: excerpt on MacMahon, aimed at certain PRE posters?

You're missing the point Craig.

The point was people have been sledging Jordie himself, not the trade. He's trying to change the "eat our own" culture.

Pick 19 & 35 for Sanchez and Morton. It's looking like a good trade. I'd nearly be content with Morton at 19, given his form, eye for goal and age, so look at Sanchez as a #35 pick and it's all so much sweeter.

No, Craig wasn't missing the point, he has seen it for what it is, which is something most people fail to see, pick 19 should never have been traded for a fair weather footballer, how good are we? Beaten up on shithouse sides, with MacMahon leading the way and one more thing, I'll always eat my own when I'm hungry!

Now THERE'S an interesting way of looking at it. In fact, I like it. I wonder if we'd still be having this debate if we'd traded 19 for Morton...

Must admit I had my doubts about McMahon, which weren't immediately relieved, but the last few weeks have had me wavering. He's certainly becoming more consistent and I've seen him do the hard stuff occasionally. His runs up the middle are almost breath-taking in their audacity sometimes.

EBT - When there is a material and real risk of draft picks at selection 19 not making it (as demonstrated by Tiger 17) the factor of taking the easy option just doesn't come into play. I look at this problem the way the same way as when I need to hire someone. Hiring from within is preferable to hiring externally as there are too many unknowns with external hiring.

If we were to take the philosophy of only accepting the very best, we would limit ourselves to 1 or 2 selections each year. IMO - once you get past the very few superstars in early in the first round of the ND, all players selected afterwards have a relatively equal chance of making it - and by default an equal chance of not making it (someone will probably have data to refute this).
omg if the club thinks this way we are in more trouble than even i thought.

ffs if you are not prepared to use pick 19 in the draft and be reasonably confident that you will get a decent player we might as well fold the club right now.

the mcmahon trade was crazy on many fronts not just because we traded pick 19. mcmahons 7 yrs amonted to 7yrs of mediocrity and he met not one list need. and yet we were prepared to do away with a valuble and highly regarded pick to get this dud. we should all be appalled and we should all retain the anger so those dickheads who made this decision think twice before they contemplate doing something similar again. all this trade proved is we have no processes in place when it comes to list management and recruiting.

i reckon macca might start, if he hasn't already, make you start questioning the extremity of your stance crawey 'ol son.

I think he will prove a lot of people wrong.he is only in his first season with the tigers and if continues his recent form will go a long way to contributing to a solid back line, last two games have been his best for the club,I hope he prove us all wrong and becomes a great player for our club.its to late to think about pick #19.MacMahon is still young and can fit into the team.
