That feeling u get with the roar of the Tiger army!

Well after having a few nostalgic crowd moments on the patto thread ive decided to start this thread as im sure all of the fanatical tiger fans out there have a few stories to tell....Im always looking to add to my collection so would luv to hear some experiences at these type of games, more than not crowd numbers for some reason have an influence on my choice of purchasing these games... To those who didn't read my post...here is a copy and paste of that....

I know this has nothing to do with this thread but Jb's talk of Carlton in 95 gave me flashbacks of that RD 11 game, im pretty sure it was RD 11 when 85,000 people rolled up to the G to see the tiges and blues battle it out, as u all know we lost it in the last quarter but what im trying to say here is ill never forget the roar and especially the Richmond chant, it just echoed around the ground even Cambo commented on it and stated that the Richmond supporters just sounded so much louder than the blues, it gave me goose bumps similar to the 1995 2nd semi final against the bombers, that game personally speaking was one of the loudest in sheer noise volume that ive experienced, anyway just a bit of nostalgia.

Ahh yes remember that game vividly TT "anzac day eve" monday night footy!, i still have this game in my collection, crowd was going off 60 plus thousand people with Richo, Edwards and the duck (Daffy) kicking goals from everywhere. Some were saying that the break up of the crowd was tigers fans 50,000 and roos fans about 12-14 thousand.

Just added the TygerTyger link here that he posted on patto's thread for the Tiges V Roos on youtube....

Thanx TT

Games that I would recommend. The tiger fans we're soooooo loud in these games.

Richmond vs Essendon rd 22 2001 (Richo and Ottens vs Llyod)
Richmond vs Hawthorn rd 5 2003 (what a come from behind win!)
Richmond vs Melbourne rd 8 2003 (the crowd was so ear peircing in the last quarter!)
Richmond vs Hawthorn rd 6 2004 (the nail bitting last quarter was fantastic)
Richmond vs Western Bulldogs rd 8 2004 (RICHOOOOOOOO!)
Richmond vs Port Adelaide rd 6 2005 (RICHOOOOOOOO!) again!
Richmond vs Collingwood rd 8 2005 (Browny, the man, the legend!)
Richmond vs West Coast rd 11 2005 (we lost, the crowd was feral)
Richmond vs Hawthorn rd 21 2005 (what a come from behind win!) again against the Dawks! :rofl
Richmond vs Essendon rd 6 2006 (what a "dreamtime" at the 'G')
Richmond vs Adelaide rd 8 2006 (So desperate to win)

Hope it helps.

What about the roar when Browny came on for the first time aginst the Roos last year? (In all that fog, sent an even bigger chill down the spine.)

But it wasn't a game that was full on tiger Army!

I think I remember a game in 2003 against the saints and the commentators said that the Cheer Squad was like listening to the soccer in Europe, we've easily got the loudest crowd.

The Tiger fans are easily the best and most passionate in the afl-pity about the players-more interested in getting drunk and picking up birds in nightclubs and collecting the freebies and cash than winning premierships-feel sorry for those die hard grog squad members-footballers give me the *smile*.

My old man is getting very old now and lives for the Tiges-the team couldn't care less though-too many egos.

Well said! :clap

I reckon we could be louder.

Just listening to bits and pieces of the A-League, gee they are loud.

It must have been 2001 when the real roar emotion of the Tiger Army cheering and roaring got me!

First off thanx heaps TB, i have most of them from your list but there's a few out of those that i don't have so ill definitely be getting those.

Spot on FT, along with 1995, 2001 would have to be a year where we played in front of some very big crowds. 78,000+ against the pies, 70,000+ against the blues (im pretty sure it was silvagni's 300th), 77,000+ and 78,000+ against the bombers in the H&W season and then we went in to the finals, bombers again 78,000 and then Carlton (not 100% sure but i think it was 83,000), it was euphoria that season of 2001.
Out of the 11 biggest attendance games in 2001 Richmond played in 8 of them.

P.S If you include the two finals matches against Essendon (78,000) and Carlton (83,000) it might be 7/12!!

Yes, Richmond had big loud crowds in 1995 and 2001,
but it was the seasons where the Fans we're so starved of success that we are loud eg. Richmond vs Hawthorn rd 6 2004.

Yes DG i was including finals too so i was pretty close 7 out of 12 where i said 8 out of 11....I actually didn't do any researching on this when i posted the above its all memory so not a bad effort i must say to get it almost right, i always have a particular interest in high attendance games obviously more so our games.
