When we beat the Cats recently, all the talk was about how we hadn't won there since 1990. It just hit me that in 1990, Geelong were reigning runners-up (lost the 89 GF by a goal), and if memory serves, we were the reigning wooden spooners. How on earth did we beat them at the Cattery then? Are there any PREnders that recall the game?

Pretty sure that was the last game I watched at the cattery. Went with a cats brother and he put the mozz on them. Cats kicked about 8 goals 28 points or something ridiculous and we got in by a poofteenth.
Many a can was trashed in celebration that day :partyfest :beer

Gosh I was actually there but I can't remember how the Tiges won. Think we had the wind in the last quarter and was it Des Ryan??? ( :o) played one of his few good games.... ! :help

Have had all my posts deleted for a very minor infraction :police:, starting again here.

Round 7, Richmond 13.18.96 def Geelong 9.28.82. We were on the bottom with 64% after being consistently smashed (but with a 79-point win over Fitzroy). Think Tiges67 is correct, the wind was pretty tricky and played a part in the bad kicking. Jeff Hogg kicked 4 or 5 and took a big grab with about five minutes to go before kicking the steadier to the grandstand end.

Was running late for this match after missing the train at Spencer St. and caught a train to Werribee followed by a taxi to the ground. Pulling into the KP carpark, Weightman nailed the first goal and the radio caller exclaimed "Richmond - 500,000 to 1 - are in front!". The only time I've ever had a happy train ride home from Sleepy Hollow.

Geelong were 4-2 before this; they only won 4 more games & finished 10th.

What an awesome day that was.

I recall Tim Powell played a blinder, Des Ryan played well off a wing kicking a couple of goals and Michael Mitchell was electric.
Cats had there opportunities but were wasteful in front of goal. Also, don't remember Ablett playing that day (I may be wrong), but he would kill us on his own.

I reckon I've still this game on video somewhere, will see if i can find it.

That's a matter for the Feedback board if you want to discuss it publicly.  The ModSquad are too busy to have their time wasted being used as pawns in personal squabbles. :)

oh puhlease! ::). You wouldn't be so 'busy' if you weren’t such a control freak.

ModSquad? You want a TV show or something?

Its ok rosy, if it makes you feel any better pawns can be the most important piece on the board ;)

Back OT - I remember that game, it was back when we all had to walk to school in bare feet, in the snow, uphill both there and back! arrhhh those were the days.
