The Blair "Which?" Project

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

Yeah agreed. His best junior form was in the backline so thta's where I'd play him. His ability to read the game should be best utilised there.

Can take a grab and is 197cm/97kg. Then again i really rate Astbury highly. Watched a bit of him the other day to refresh on him. I certainly forgot how good he was for a 19yo kid. Think he could be our CHB long-term. If club feels this is the case they may just persist.

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

There is a guy who in the last weeks in the VFL, stop his 2 opponents from kicking a single goal.
Including Fev. Dale Morris part 2!
Don't know his name or age.

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

Paul Roos has a saying that goes something like Draft the best players but trade for needs . Maybe not word for word but close to that .

If we are really trading for needs there are 4 types I would trade for before getting a key back like Hansen
- A ruckman
- Another midfielder with good kicking skills
- A small defender toplay on the small forwards who keep on killing us
- A genuine crumbing small forward .

- Maric
- pick 14 (McKenzie)
- Morris (F/S)
- draft a couple or make do with what we have until there is one worth taking. i like Tipungwuti as a late draft choice (18yo) and Malcolm Lynch (ex-bulldog) from the VFL or Ahmed Saad in a trade with GWS for a Morton or something.

Don't know the juniors TIGS but that seems fine to me .

Does anyone rate Cruse Garlett from North ? He seems to be behind Campbell and squib Thomas in the pecking order down there . When i watched Betts and Garlett for the tankers on saturday night it just makes me feel we would be a much better team if we had one of those guys in our forward line , especially Garlett . We have tall forwards and the ball hits the ground a lot because we tend to kick long to a contest . Kevin Bartlett would have a great time in our forward line these days .

Cruize is an inside mid. And a very small one. Pass for me. Jeff Garlett on the other hand...would like him as a player if he didnt wear that vomit jumper ;D

I hate Jeff Garlett because he is a carlton player but if I was given the choice of one small forward in the competition I would pick him .

Garletts an inside mid not a crumbing forward.

That's unusual assessment Leysy, averages 2 goals and 12 possessions a game, hardly the stats of an inside mid. The times I've seen him play on the ball he's often skirted around the pack waiting for the quick contested possession, if anything he'd be classified as an outside mid.

I think it may be the role they are forcing him to play. He is an inside mid and North have a lot of them. In fact, its all they have.

My mistake, thought we were talking about the Carlton Garlett.

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

I don't know much about Cruize Garlett which is why I asked the question . I think one of the reasons we went better at the end of the season was the move of Nahas to play more forward again but we probably lost a bit in the midfield as well .

Betts was a PSD pick , Jeff garlett was a rookie I think ? , Milne was a rookie . Surely there a few of them out there relatively cheap ?

You'd have to say yes based on history, this is part of the reason I wouldn't get into a bidding war over Dayle Garlett. I honestly can't remember the last time a whippet style small forward has warranted a first round pick, Nahas and Aaron Davey are other examples of successful PSD and rookie selections.

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

If Lachie Hansen is the one supposedly offered up for our compo pick we should grab him and run.
