Big rumour on BF a Freo supporter has heard from 2 different sources that Dangerfield has asked to come home.Has nominated his club of choice too.

Which would have to be Geelong.

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

re young Rucks..
any love for McCauley or McCulloch from the lions ? weren't we after mcculloch at one point ?

Geelong isn't in Melbourne. Then again the guy being a Freo supporter may be confused about the map of Victoria. :hihi

Hansen would suit at the right price

but i think the club believes Astbury Grimes and Rance are our next premiership key defenders.

Further to that they probably believe that Vickery Riewoldt and Griffiths are our next premiership key forwards.

And Cotch Dusty and Lids in the centreline

We need a mature ruckman for 2012, and another 17 yo ruck in development.

and more and more class midfielders.
Yeah I get that, but Hansen is 23, established and would add to the team, as you say, at the right price. Compo pick is unders for mine.

How many BF rumours turn out to be true? 1%?

You'd have to think we're a chance to rookie McCulloch given we wanted him only 2 years ago. Unless of course Brisbane rookies him.

I can imagine the bombers having a big crack at Dangerfield . Worst midfield in the top 8 by a long way and desperately need quality .

I nailed Conca last year well before the draft. But no, i would have no idea if it's credible or not. Going to try find out the club.

4 years ago and Lions have already delisted / rookied him previously. This is the second time they have cut him.

Would think there would have to be a reason why a guy is cut twice.

Would rather McCauley to be honest.

What about from the draft 19yo Mitch Brewer from Southport. 204cm/119kg. Ex-Rugby. Just loves to smash in hard.

Thanks, my mistake.

Cut him after two years because of injury. Rookied him to give him a second chance. Still can't get on the field. At least one knee reco I think, plus multiple other injuries. His mobility was the appeal originally. If he has lost his bounce and run and quickness he become a mediocre prospect at best.

He hasn't much of a chance though. His big asset is/was his inside ability which is almost no use off a back flank.

He is pretty slow & soft. His inside ability was really only as a junior which was way to long ago to be relevant.

Leysy thinks we are a better chance grabbing a state league footballer that has gone past him, that would also have more scope to improve once in the system.

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

Yeah fair enough. Urquhart is basically a state league footballer at this point. It'd just depend if anyone's seen anything of merit in those performances.

Once in the bests at VFL level? From 18 games? The right price would be a rookie pick when he's delisted, if that.
Hansen is one of the best marks in the league. He's apparently had shoulder problems this year, which makes it tough to take the kind of strong overhead grabs he pulls down with regularity. I just reckon we need a marking tall defender and he could be it.

He averages 5.4 marks per game and less than one contested mark per game in 67 games. In his best season he averaged 6.2 marks per game and 1.1 contested. Not really the stats of a great mark. And considering he's got all the intensity of a Relton Roberts workout I reckon he's a big pass.

Would rather see Post persisted with or Astbury thrown in there than go after a half-hearted injury prone 23 yr old with an unsubstantiated reputation.

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

Stats, shmats. Watch the bloke squeeze the air out of the pill.

I didn't say go after him, I said if he's offered for the compo pick. I'm not going to argue about it though. Opinions, *smile*holes... and it's not like we have a say in it.

I was just questioning the great part. Yeh he takes a nice grab but so does Brett Thornton.

Reckon the compo pick might be paying too much and we have more pressing needs than a KD right now (unless it was Frawley/Davis)

Agree with the last part. Astbury looked good until he put on too much size too quick. Him, Rance and Grimes with Post, Thursfield, McGuane, Gourdis as back-up. We could draft another but its not a pressing need yet. We need a ruck and then to hit the draft and do it well.

We need more midfielders and lots of them. Dont think we have enough of them. Need some developing at Coburg, need some more to slot in and join the rotations. More on-ballers definitely required. Quality ones too.
