Scott Thompson re-signed with North.

Interesting I heard a lot of stories about him coming to us. I hope we bumped up his price.

We weren't interested but we certainly were helping him pump his price up ;)

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

Ralph just mentioned that Foley hasn,t been resigned. He mentioned that he spoke to Francis Jackson at the B & F on the subject and Francis told him we are giving him a bit more time than normal for him to decide.FJ mentioned that Foley isn,t in the trade plans.
Wonders what Foley is deciding on?.GWS offer?

If it's GWS then that's good news on two counts, firstly it means Deledio won't be showered with mountains of cash and secondly, you would expect another compo pick to be thrown into the mix. Two compo picks equates to pole position in the mini-draft, that would even put us in front of Collingwood in terms of bargaining power, as much as I would hate to lose Foley I think we'd be better served recruiting Crouch or O'Meara and a player like Greene in the main draft. Out - Foley, Tambling, In - Crouch/O'Meara, Greene/Grigg.

If GWS took Foley this year, couldn't they still target Lids at the end of 2012?
Not as uncontracted player but as a free agent yes.

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

Would be an end of 1st round pick as compensation if Foley goes.

As for trading 2 x end of 1st round picks (compo picks) for a pick in the 17 y/o mini-draft, do those in the know think it would be better to actually use those picks to draft next year with the touted draft depth??

That would leave us with 3 x 1st round picks albeit 2 of those will likely be in the 20's.

I would be more than happy for Foley to remain at Richmond - I think he is a very important player for us and he will get back to his best.

Would give up 1 with some fringe players for a later pick in mini-draft. Not both.

Both Crouch and O'Meara are top ten talents, so it comes down to swapping two picks in the twenties for players who could potentially be as high as pick 5. O'Meara would probably attract the biggest bids so i would be happy enough to angle for Crouch who seems a perfect fit, I'd say he's the complete package as he has elite disposal, can kick goals, is an excellent playing weight already, tackles and according to the coaching staff at the Rebels, is a level headed player with a willingness to learn. Behind those two I'd have Kennedy and Stringer but would baulk at spending two picks, Adelaide are well into Kennedy who is a feisty small forward mid who reminds me of Ben McGlynn and Stringer who I haven't really seen enough of to make a definitive statement. The latter is being courted by Geelong who reportedly are willing to part with the Ablett compo pick. My guess is GWS will activate 2 picks this year and 2 next year which would probably mean O'Meara and Crouch will be on the market.

Would *smile* love Stringer at the club next year if he's at our pick in the draft. Already has an AFL sized body. Only concern is how he bounces back from his broken leg. Wouldn't use a mini-draft pick on him.

The broken leg has obviously seen him drop off the radar but Geelong are reportedly very keen, will be interesting to see if they do take the plunge with a compo pick.

Maybe I'm paranoid due to the Nathan Brown thing??

I'd just prefer to see him come back playing before giving up much for him.

JOM would go top 3 this year if eligible. Biggest sure thing for No 1 in the 2012 but he wont be around. Thats saying something with the likes of whitfield, Mayes, garlett, Orourke, vlausitn and co who will be available in next years draft. He will go in the mini draft. Best 17 year old in the country by a mile
