JOM would go top 3 this year if eligible.

It took me a good five minutes to stop laughing, realise that wasn't a typo and resume reading the rest of your post.

Thats saying something with the likes of whitfield, Mayes, garlett, Orourke, vlausitn and co who will be available in next years draft. He will go in the mini draft. Best 17 year old in the country by a mile

Certainly a big talent, I'm not so sure I'd make the number 1 call so far out but I'd agree he's the most talented 17yo in the pool.

As for trading 2 x end of 1st round picks (compo picks) for a pick in the 17 y/o mini-draft, do those in the know think it would be better to actually use those picks to draft next year with the touted draft depth??

An identical situation reportedly occurred in 09 before the draft - Sydney offered picks 6 & 13 for our number 3 pick because they wanted to snag Dusty.

At first glance, it would have been tempting to do the deal but now in hindsight, I'm bloody relieved we didn't.

In this instance, we would be in Sydneys shoes - if any of these boys has anywhere near the talent of Dusty then do the deal I say.

Martin for Rohan and Lewis would have seen the end of Craig Cameron's caeer at the club, thank god sanity prevailed.

Rohan will be a good player, maybe not martins level
As far jetta goes I'm surprised we didn't pick him with pick 3.

Still very patchy, from memory this was the knock on him at junior level. What he does, he does well but is yet to put 4 good quarters together.

You on the juice tonight zipps?

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

We picked up Cotchin and Martin more recently with Top 10 picks.

Why focus on ancient history when recent history is so much better ?

Will be close to our best player if we get him in a few years. Another class mid to go with Dusty & Cotch & Lids.

Why? We picked Tambling and Oakley with top 10 picks,

Any opportunity to pot the club huh? U realise we didn't have a proper recruiter then?

Oh so true... people still fail to realise recruitment was a serverely under resourced dept up until a couple of years ago.... as was player development...you can't keep comparing the past with what we're doing now... the future is bright. GO TIGES. ;D ;D ;D

One has to Wonder if Sheedy is behind this.He knows he has to give up the 17yr olds.Im sure he,d prefer that at least one of those go to his 2 former clubs in Richmond and Essendon, without selling the farm.Foley & Ryder?

'

He's pissed at the Dons for knifing him. Can't see him doing them favours. Especially seems he wants to steal Hurley.

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

People don't realise that FJ didnt join us as a full time recruiter until 2006. Before that we only had a PART time recruiter, no wonder that apart from Lids we have no one left from the 2004 and 2005 drafts. 2006 onwards however is a different story with FJ joining full time in 2006 and in 2009 we gave him 2 other recruiters. Hence since 2006 we have picked up Cotchin, Riewoldt, Rance, Martin, Vickery, Conca, Batchelor etc. The recruiting has improved out of site since 2006. On top of that we have (well had and will have again shortly) 2 development coaches which we didnt really have until a few years ago. It's all well and good to say we need to find players (Recruiting departments job) but you have to develop them when they come to your club.

Sheeds is just the face, sounds like he does absolutely squat at that club.

This. So many of his comments are inconsistant with what they are actually doing. He just generates headlines and probably hasn't found his way to a list meeting yet. Still laughing at his comment that he was suprised that no one had contacted Mark Williams for a senior gig. He already has one, yours Sheeds. Trying to move him on to keep your job and you haven't even started yet.

Yep, last night on TFS Falou stated "Choco decided to move me forward" and that Sheeds is a bit crazy.
