It's the bye and the middle of the season, so while we pause and get locked and loaded for the rest of 2011 let's see who PRE's internet gurus think our opposition analyst might be looking to lure to Punt Road for 2012.

The rules of the game are that the player you mention must be out of favour at his present AFL club or burning it up at a lower comp like the VFL. Maybe there's a Victorian who wants to come home.

Judging from last year we won't offer our first two draft selections, but a Collins for Grigg trade could eventuate so you can list for trade anyone whose non-selection in the Richmond team could be described as a farce.

Let the game begin...

Hope he's cheap because he's not going to be part of the future.

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

Of course.

But he could help our raft of young midfielders come on whilst letting Vickery & Browne develop at their own time. Both still 2 or more years away from being able to take on full-time ruck duties.

Ruck is one position leysy doesnt mind getting an older player at the right price to give us some first use & protectionin the middle.

You're confident he can get on the park often enough to be worth whatever we give up given he'll be 30+ with a recent history of injury trouble?

Re: The Blair Hartley Project

If I am honest, I don't agree with David Hille being recruited to our club. Reason being he won't be part of the future, and is injured far too much to be a consistant help to our midfield and developing ruckman. I also think Essendon would want way to much for him. Jsut a non starter in my opinion.

The idea of a senior ready to go ruckman is not a bad one though. Our rucks are clearly not up to it at this stage. Just neeed to find the right one.

Agreed. Not sure if this year coming up is the time to be buying though. Are we going to be a top 4 side next year?

Well if we can get a ruckman who can be at his peak for 3 or 4 years, that would be the type I'd want. Even say after year 3 they start to platau then Browne/Derickx/Vickery will be ready to rumble by then. In the mean time we would have hopefully had some success and are in a position to have sustained success.

Will we be top 4 next year? Maybe, I know we will definitely be targetting top 6 at the least. Heck, this year we are not far off from top 8, so I think this pre season is the perfect time to get an experienced ruckman to support our young but damaging midfield. I thought we were a mile off Finals this year, the truth is we are not, the truth is other than the top 4, we aren't that far away from the chasing pack.
