PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Now as a starting point, I'm not a fan of Jordy. For his defensive frailties I dont think he hurts you enough with the ball even though he appears endowed with some skill. P Bowden had similar weaknesses. I also think we paid over the odds to get him.

However I can see the logic in his recruitment. Mcmahons 'good' stats are running bonces and his high rebound 50's and inside 50's. Ie He gets it into the 50 pretty quick. Now assuming his disposal does not descend to Chaffey or JON dimensions, Macmahon can rectify a gaping richmond weakness and that is being constantly beaten in inside 50's by 10 or more. There were many a week when inside 50's were them 60ish, us 40ish.

Without resorting to stats just watching Johnson and Tuck 'run and carry' show how slow they are in picking options and secondly in delivering quickly inside 50.

Stats show that on average most sides score once in every 2 inside 50's, so inside 50's is an important stat. Forward efficiency and quality delivery then separates the plodders for the top sides. If Jordy can engineer a quicker transition into the forward line it may give our forward more opportunity and it is our forward line that is probably our strongest part of our side. For mine if you can get Lids, Brown and Richo as deep forwards one out, we can score goals. I also think Polak has CHF written all over him. Pettifer and Jack to pay high forwards doubling back and Edwards Tambling and co to provide some run and crumb and we might win more than 4 games after all!
