I was thinking of this this week.

The reason. The brilliant season one N 'Axel" Foley has had and that he would be miles ahead in the b&f it isnt funny.

I thought more of this when thinking of Cogs. Remember him? A young gun, touted as a future captain and brownlow medalist after his super year and high vote catching in the brownlow that year.

Since then the player has been struck down by O.P and more recently knee injury.

Last year Kane won the b&f and by his standard last year has had an ordinary year possibly attributed to him carrying an injury for most of the year.

Raines also comes to mind. What a season the kid had last year but this year he has been ordinary. I can only think of two games he was at last years form. Would you release him to play midfield next year ?

Just wanted some views on this and what we can do?

It just shows what the rookie list can unhearth and what hard work can achieve.

Thanks

If you are superstitious this could be a real worry, lucky for me I'm not.

Seriously, knees, poor form, not a lot you can do about that. Raines may be attracting a bit more attention this year so has to learn to deal with the extra pressure. Joel seems to be handling winning the B&F ok. He's been pretty consistent over the last few years. I don't think there is much to be concerned about, just some bad luck on the whole.

It's the same as worrying about the Tiger skin at Punt road. We all know there is nothing in it but it is an attractive superstition. All part of footy.

I don't think the B&F is a curse but having said that, what good is Foley playing his best football now and running himself into the ground when he doesn't have the team around him? Just like Coughlan.

Because he is an inspiration that's why.

I think our leadership groups are a bit of a curse. I can think of a couple of players who've been a part of it, who've either been seriously injured, or tapped on the shoulder and told they won't be required any longer.

Newman, Brown, Gaspar, Rodan to start with...

That rules out the b&f curse then. I reckon it's the curse of the yellow and black jumper. We get too many injuries.

Then again it could be The Curse of the Membership Card. :hmm

What about Bowden? He managed ok
Cogs OP was Fraudley's fault, I know everyone got frustrated with all the time Foley spent on the bench last year, but Wallace managed him perfectly. Even now he's not playing the same game time Cogs was.

Rosie true with Raines i wanted to mention the year he had with runner up to rising star, close to the b&f.

See your point too !

The curse of being in the leadership group - curse there too !

i KNOW just a stupid post. Just wanted to bring it out there so the injury gods are kinda to us next year.

Conversely to bad omens and curses, did I not see our good luck omen "The Pettifer lookalike Guy" in the crowd again on Friday night? I'm sure I saw him on the telly..... He was there against Melbourne too.

;D
