I felt sick compiling the draft choices of 1999 to 2003 as im sure u all will feel the same....Now when u compare the recent 5 drafts 2004 to 2008 to before that (1999 to 2003) you can appreciate that there’s at least quality kids coming through from the last 5 years, yes some stuff ups but id take 2004 to 2008 any day of the week over the below choices...
It begs the question and thus lies the real problem beneath our troubles, that period of 1999 to 2003 cost us dearly, apart from cogs and newman nothing else, can u believe it nothing else....jay and petts will be gone at yrs end and that leaves an over 30 in brown...So 2 players in Cogs and Newman from a 5 yr period is absolutely deplorable....the current years of 2004 to 2008 there could well be 10 to 15 players to lead us, that period of 1999 to 2003 should've netted us at least a dozen quality players....those players with pics from the current 5 years would see us well entrenched in the 8, even with stuff ups along the way having a base of 12 quality players with the newbie’s of the last 5 years would see us as a powerful team...
Hawks have it, had a good core group prior to 2004 and added to that nicely with the current crop, cats too....
It really puts things into perspective and i will say right now that that 5 year period from 1999 to 2003 is what has truly put us behind...if mike Sheehan or mark robinson really wanted to put out a real eye catching article they would’ve dug deeper and unearthed the real problem to our current playing list...
