PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

To me footy games are won and lost in the centre - the midfield is where a team's dominance over another starts. Our engine room left a lot to be desired on Saturday night!

We can rightly point out that we had a very young and inexperienced backline - but a backline's job is made far easier if the engine room is on top or at very least breaking even.

The Swans cut our midfield to shreds on the weekend - they slammed on 4 quick goals in the opening 5 minutes of the game and senior Richmond Midfielders could be seen hanging their heads. After our senior players in the midfield became half hearted - avalanche after avalanche of pressure was forced upon our inexperienced backmen.

I see TW using the 14 players with less accumulated game experience than one Swan's player (Williams) excuse - but in truth our seniors did not give our kids a role model to follow out there in the centre. Would our Captain have made a difference? Maybe - but not 118 points difference!

Nah our senior players need to have a long hard look at themselves - they were comprehensively beaten on the night and our kids could not withstand the flood of possession the Swans had out of the Centre.

My opinion only.......RT
