Article on the AFL site re: Fev that the "the groin" hasn't stood up and therefore requires surgery.

Can you imagine the passion that a high price lame Fevola would have generated.

Close Shave for RC and I bet Fev has had a close shave and all. ;D

There are just so many reasons to give thanks.

Great news for us. I sense the luck may be changing for us after all these years.
Have they gotten rid of the Tiger or something? ;)

I listened to SEN on the way home from Melbourne tonight hoping to hear PRE mentioned but instead I heard them joking about Fev's groin operation and rest needed after his recent honeymoon.  Funny stuff. ;D

Heard about Mark Harvey all the way to Melb and heard about Mark Harvey all the way home again.  Was there a change of topic inbetween?

Speaking of Harvey and the Dockers a question on SaleOfTheCentury, or whatever it's called, tonight asked for the nickname of Fremantle.  The bloke answered Power. :rofl

I thought they were the shitfish!

Speaking of Harvey - he'll never leave the safety of hiding behind big Kev, and collecting his cool $250k - $300k.
Because if he ever did, the football world will discover what a big useless dud he really is.

Poor bloke. ;D
He answered the cricket question no worries. There must have been something wrong in his household when he was a kid.

Fevola will be out for 4-6 weeks. All clubs take a 2 week break over Christmas.

He misses 2-4 weeks of pre-season training. Big deal.

Until he re-does his groin next time, and the time after that.

Hmmm...I notice you're now a medico. Interesting.

In your "professional opinion", where does that put our re-signing of someone like Stafford then ? He's had a littany of injuries, has never completed a full pre-season with us and is in his 30's. We re-signed him, but I didn't hear you complain about that ? Or is this just selective, mis-informed Fevola bashing from you again ?

At the time, did you think Kouta should give it away when he did his hamstring....what about Buckley ? What was your "professional prognosis" in each of those cases at the time Dr Phantom ?

True (potentially) but a fun topic for ye olde Fev bashers anyway.

The Carlton staff should have diagnosed this earlier, Fev must be annoyed at them.

If he resumes training in mid January he will be way behind in the 'core' that is built up before Christmas. A groin injury will mean no running or cycling, at best he may be able to swim and lift weights. Hardly ideal preparation for him to deliver on his $1.4 M contract over 3 years.

You've got it all wrong ABC.

Carlton knew about it half way through the season. He continued to play in spite of it. They determined that he could get through the season ok, but come the end of the season they would have to make a decision on whether they would operate or not to correct it.

As is always the case in these things, where rest without surgery is a possible solution, they will always try that first - which they did. Unfortunately the improvement wasn't satisfactory, so they go to plan B and operate. Simple.

As I say, he'll only miss 4 weeks of FULL training. He'll actually be training within a week of the op. By the start of January he'll be close to full training.

Next time anyone goes down to training at Punt Road - especially around the January period -  check out how many players are on the sidelines recovering from some injury or operation, and are just doing rehab work.

Storm in a tea cup.

Agree, but still happy he's not playing with us.

It is amazing how self-righteous some people become in their eagerness to justify not getting Fev.  It is and will be regarded in the future as a lost opportunity!

Carlton were trying to offload Fev. Im sure the last thing they would have wanted to announce is the required groin operation. As someone said, rest is often the first remedy for a groin, and Im sure Carlton werent too unhappy about setting a rest strategy whilst negotiations were taking place.

Cheers

How many times have the Tigers had an injured player foisted off onto them? Does the name Steve O'Dwyer ring any bells? Thank God that Richmond never picked up the overpaid, overrated walking sideshow that is Fevola.
