The first Chief Executive of Football for Richmond will be....

Perhaps the Agency need to act with a little more prefessionalism and not comment on the relationship they have with their clients.

The Agency aren't commenting. I didn't bat an eyelid when reading this, I know the Slade Group very well and have a lot of dealings with them, they would not make comments like this.

Every large company has employees who will mouth off or bignote themself by talking about things they shouldn't, often they forget to also circulate this is their opinion, or they half heard a conversation and jumped to conclusions. Often it's people making things up to bignote themself.

Facts are The Slade Group (unlike some in recruitment) are a highly reputable company.

About 5 of our staff have recently been placed by The Slade Group at the club, our relationship with them is excellent.

I've only heard good things about the process, I've just never mentioned them as I have heard whispers from people who work at Slade's who wouldn't have a clue but know I am a Richmond supporter.

Reading between the lines the club is conducting themselves well and the process is fine but we are being turned down by the applicants we want.

Which obviously has something to do with how our club, our Board and our players are percieved. Dumping the previous incumbent in very ordinary circumstances would not exactly fill the candidates with any confidence either I would imagine.

Why obviously? It's not obvious at all - just your interpretation.

Anyone professional enough for us to want them in that role wouldn't batter an eyelid at false perceptions some have.

Just announced on SEN that Craig Cameron will be taking up the position. They better not try and save by not having a List Manager. We still need that position.

With CC taking up the position I reckon the club has been left with egg on its face about the Miller sacking with the ruckus it caused.

Why is that IG? I don't see the link.

Because they obviously didn't get the person they preferred, with CC being a late entrant, and now one of the more vital positions in the football department is vacant. IMHO the club would have been better off retaining Miller for another year and let CC at least start the process of structuring the list better. Who knows perhaps the Hawks will win the premiership and Pelchen would have been easier to get next year.

I agree. At the very least, they could have made the decision at the end of the season if they were just going to promote someone internally rather than creating a fuss with 5 weeks of the season to go. :-\

Wasn't one of the reasons for Millers sacking because he was wearing to many hats head of football recruiting list management etc now doesn't Craig Cameron have all those duties? Will he now appoint a new list manager maybe Ashcroft?

Fair enough, although are you suggesting there was an individual they preferred?

Seems to me several people applied - either weren't suitable or didn't want it (does anyone know?) - so the club expanded their search.

Also seems that the club thought - for whatever reason - Miller needed to be moved on sooner rather than later.

I don't think we have enough info to know either way.

I agree, the whole process has made the club look pretty bad yet again, very amateurish

And that's not a knock on Cameron either

Is Craig Camron the right man for the position ??
I've been reading how big a position it is and now it comes internally . Is this a quick fix or not.

They have obviously announced it right before the brownlow to avoid any media scrutiny that would have surely come there way. Predictable

Only story I can find, apparently will be made official today.

Sceptical why it will be made on Brownlow medal day after when all press will be on Cooney. Are they embarrassed???

"CC is expected to manage the club's recruiting through this year's trade period and the national and pre-season drafts before the club appoints two more people to replace him in recruiting. As a respected recruiter, Cameron is likely to retain executive control of list management.''

So what was Miller's role which was too powerful. Dont get me worng.,..I am glad Miller is gone but if we are going to fall back on someone down the corridor surely the whole thing shoul have been handled a little better.

I kow..I know...Due process and best man for the job as opposed to best man available etc etc...but gee it seems we have not gone anywhere.

One guy still wields the big stick. At the recruiting table I think a few heads are much more perceptive than one opinion.

I know it wont quite be like that but other clubs have probably been in cosultation bantering options back and forward while CC has to talk to himself in the mirror to get a second opinion from his list manager.

Let's hope he jumps the right way in this big draft for us.

I wouldn't be surprised if yesterdays leak was deliberate.

If CC will be replaced in recruiting as that story indicates then I can live with him performing the role for this period. Although its clear to me that he's the best man available rather than the best man for the job.

Miller's role wasn't too powerful, this new role will actually be more powerful I think, its that Miller apparently wasn't accountable enough. This is why they need a List Manager.

I just want the club to be transparent with the reasons for Miller’s sacking and Cameron’s appointment. All we have been told is that Miller did not have the right “skill set” and was not “contemporary enough.”

Okay then … but what is Cameron’s skill set? How contemporary is he? All I know is that he has been the recruiting manager at a club that makes Richmond look elite.

I am not knocking CC and obviously hope he does well but I really would like to know on what basis the appointment was made and what he brings to the table that will assist in this very important role.

If anyone can compile a rough CV of Craig that would be much appreciated.

I don't prefess to know anything about what has gone on behind the scenes. I can only rely on tidbits in the media which may or may not be accurate.

However, in forming an opinion on this whole saga, I must say I am quite deflated by it all. Many supposedly good names where mentioned, the process seemed long and thorough yet we gave the job to a bloke down the hall. It appears similar to the Sheedy sacking / Knights hiring at Essendon last year.

I don't think the apparently hasty sacking of Miller mid season to be replaced by an existing staff member some 2 months later reflects well on us at all.

All I can do is cross my fingers and hope that CC is the right man for the job.

Again, before i get shot down, it is an opinion based upon being on the outside looking in.
