The Footy Media - WTF?

Is it just me or have the footy media sunk to new depths this year?
As the only stake holder in the game that isn't accountable, I really think that the AFL and the clubs need to make it known that enough is enough. I am obviously motivated by the whole non-event that has blown up over Greg Miller, but every club seems to be in the firing line (Not having a go at Greg, just the way the media turned it into a 'Richmond amateurism' show).
Caro's article this morning on Joel Bowden apparently being aloof with the media and thus somehow mentally deranged was the final straw for me. I generally like her articles and find her insightful, but when journos write articles about players because they WON'T talk, then there is something wrong.
Please- there are plenty of excess 'experts' in this industry (and most of them are on TV- cough, Archer, cough), it is time for the AFL to force a cull by limiting access to clubs if the journo's can't find something more interesting to write about and show a little integrity.

How about a bit of analysis, you know, just for a change?

Crutchy's had a dream and is gonna tell us who Miller's replacement is tonight on The Footy show.

Caro doesn't do analysis, cause she doesn't understand the game very well.
Crutchy is there to be an investigative journalist, aka muckraker.

The Analysis is meant to be done by the Mike Sheahen's and the chubby guy from the HUN (Robbo?). Not a lot of good footy journo's out there.

And you've only mentioned the print media. By god, don't get me started on the *smile* poor commentary on TV. Olarenshaw and Sam Lane? These two have such poor motor skills, quite often there mouth doesn't work in sink with their brain.

The thing that bothers me is the sporting journo's aren't accountable for anything. They find an angle on a story, make a big deal about it then move on. The end result can be a tarnished reputation for a player who has worked long and hard over many years. e.g Commentators keep using the expression "doing a Bowden" when conceding behinds because bloody Sheehan had to beat up that aspect of the one game.

At least two separate collingwood players walked through behinds tonight, I will look forward to Sheehan's huge diatribe on these incidents.
