See Ratten has officially pulled out of the Melbourne job. Wants to concentrate on getting the Carlton job. Maybe he already has it?

You'd say so.
He's doing a great job losing them games of football.
He sure is

Interesting that the Bombers have supposedly nominated Thompson and Williams as their preferred picks.

Probably just putting heat on the other candidates as it's pretty unlikely either of those would end up at Essenbum.

Interesting though. Stranger things have happened...

Think you will find Williams will coach pies when Malthouse stands down in a couple of years.Wouldn't rule Thompson out of Bombers job.

Re: Coaching roundabout.

Melbourne - King

Essendon - Royal

Carlton - McRae

Fremantle - Rawlings

Melbourne - McKenna
Carlton - Ratten
Essendon - O'Donnell
Fremantle - Harvey

Be some good assistant coaches to get this year.

Hird, Koutafides, Buckley, Riccuito, Archer, Voss. Can we get one of these blokes down to Punt Road.

Anyone else?

That's the most thoughtful post here. What a great year to line up an intelligent, hard-nosed champion, someone who's got a premiership medallion, as an assistant. Most would probably want a year out of the game, but who cares?

Much prefer that than all the nonsense about a slightly bitter, sacked coach whose best days are long gone.

Melbourne - Bond / Connolly
Carlton - Ratten
Essendon - Thompson / Hardwick
Fremantle - Harvey

McKenna not used again wonder why? ;)

Just said on 9 that Ratten has been ratified as Carlton coach.

Done a great job losing them games. :P

If there was any doubt before, it's beyond doubt now...Ratten would be crazy to not want the number 1 pick and now that he's locked himself in, he'll get no reward for winning but significant reward for losing.
