As for Mick Nolan- I never met him, but I worked with a member of his family around 5 years ago, and we had the best time talking about grea nicknames in football and we couldnt beat his.

Very sad news---I remember how popular he was-not the typical body shape for an AFL footballer---and at that level we could all relate in some way to big Mick Nolan the "Galloping Gasometer"--was it Lou who penned the name?? Read tonight how sudden this all was-diagnosed 1 month ago with pancreatic cancer. Makes me reflect on how mortal we all are.
