A1 and A2...the duds
I remember as a kid growing up, catching the 11.26 red rattler from Boronia Station to watch the Tigers play. What a game it was. Physical, tough, spectacular, hard, open, fast enticing and at times brutal. I remember the atmosphere when the "barneys broke out....the Windy Hill Battle...Legigh Matthews, Robbie Muir. Thats when the gae was great. People loved it and it was an awesome game.
Now...after the meddling of two incompetent twits our game is becoming as sterile as Dettol. The sad thing is though that no matter how much we all *smile* and groan about our great game going down the drain turds like A1 and A2 will keep their mega $$$ salaries because their empire is growing. Look at the bucks TV pay.
However its time these two idiots were made to realise how woeful our game has become and it worries me that with two galahs like these two running it the game has little future. Yes crowds are up....so is our population, yes the gate figures have increased but so has everything else because the cost t get in. I am fed up with the destruction of our game and think that the otehr codes are going to walk all over A1 and A2.

The usual lines that are trotted out are that skills are better and facilities are better, but the spectacle's not better mainly due to there being less contests. It's been brought about by professionalism and coaching tactics.
As Phantom said on another thread, it's still a great game. Maybe not as great as it was though.

So DHN , what's the solution to this Problem ?
What options do the Grassroots, hard-working Smuck's like us have of changing these Clowns outlook of our Great Game ?
I've been asking this Question for hours , on quite a few different threads and have yet to see any solutions to this problem.

I thought the exact same thing. There was no one on the mark and he ran in and past where the umpire was standing indicating the mark. I suppose one more crap decision against us isn't going to make a difference.

The backlash is coming, the AFL have done everything possible to inflate crowd figures both live and TV by never having games competing against each other at the same time but the tide is turning.

You cant yell out at the TAC, cant buy a beer, no clubrooms to go to digest the days play. all the support and coaching staff are so far up themselves it makes me sick. Oh BTW, most players playing in TAC are only interested in a spot in the AFL, and couldnt give a damn about there team mates. Plastic Footy is what i call it.

If the Socceroos go alright in Asia in a month or so, then we have the start of the A-League season.....Melbourne Victory playing in Asian Champs.League as well....and a new stadium coming along....well...

Don't get me wrong, I've always loved my footy....and maybe its because we are going through (another) losing streak (again) that it feels boring and just rubbish, but something isn't right.
The umpiring (agree with what Rosy said earlier in the thread)...that the umpiring is bordering on cheating, and I said that on Saturday night to one of my mates...."The umps are a pack of cheats!".
We talk about the consistency of decisions, however, the umps are consistent.....for the other team.
The Eagles game was worse than the Bombers game, I thought....and there has been mention of the Johnson 50m against, yet Hird does EXACTLY the same thing, and nothing.
Richo kicks the ball for a goal during play after, what he thinks, is a mark...thats 50m against.
A free is given in the pocket in the 3rd quarter to Richmond....McPhee kicks it away....no 50m.
Consistency is one thing, but when they are consistently against Richmond, then I think its just plain wrong, and a joke!
