Being at the ground last night, and listening to one of the players say that our game plan has been all over the shop in the last two years;but has improved vastly over the pre season, and it is great to actually see it work............

As we know it didn't last night. Some critical observation:

The carlton players, including the debutees, all seemed to work to a game plan that looked so easy it could have been circle work.

They intimidated our players right from the start.Sledged them staight away for their silly mistakes, treated them with ruthless contempt. Our players chose meek forms of retaliation, probably for the fear of being penalised, but perhaps the AFL should introduce the "He's using hurtful talk,or being a bully rule"because that is how feeble they played.

I made a comment in a previous post about our use of handball versus kicking. If this is our gameplan to have near or more handballs than kicks, then it is not working. carlton had 65 more kicks than handballs, resulting in twice as many inside fifties.Gameplan?????????????????? ???

i just love the way when our so called expert kicks like brown, raines, mcmahon and deledio either run backwards or sideways chip backwards, handball to a player who has 3 guys surrounding him. It keeps me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting for one of these high class possesions to miss the target and for the opposition to score a goal.

How Deledio could kick in and miss the target twice that i saw ( i had to work night shift and missed the last half) is a disgrace. My local under 9s players dont even do that

Brown is supposedly the best kick in our team and whilst i admit he hits a target fairly often, The way he kicks the ball higher in the air than it goes in length is a concern because by the time the ball falls there are a nest of opposition around it

Raines acts before he thinks. Hes got a beautiful kick on him like when he hit richo on the chest in the first 3 minutes i was druelling thinking, beauty here we go. Yet 15 minutes later hes back to his old tricks. handballing to a teammate under preassure, or running into trouble then just getting rid of the ball as quick as he can to anywhere.. If he took his time and composed himself he could be really damaging

And Mcmahon.. well i wont even bother because he is a disgrace for a league footballer and i dont have 3 days pointing out how truly sad it is everytime he runs our for our coburg 1sts let alone richmond. he should be told to act injured and be replaced by someone who wants to be there like nahas who will actually show a bit of loyalty to his team mates

The game plan???
Which one? the geelong model or the hawthorn model.
Bloody kidding ourselves, melbourne has a better game plan than us!

Carlton cracked our skulls last night and put Terry's game plan he has been working on for the last 5 years in the mouth of our coaching staff. Ratten has his boys primed to play on their man and gut run into space moving the ball quick as if it's on fire. Brett's plan was becoming evident very early into the 2008 season and had many teams on the ropes. Terry on the other hand displayed his colours in 2009 NAB1, a nonevident game plan that reflected a structure pre Frawley days.
