Is that possible?
They actually think there shitt doesn't stink..
I thought I would never say this, go pies in round 1

My daughter suggested in the off season that we set up the ladder based on teams liability. I had Geelong dead last, then the Pies, then the Bombers, so I'm in agreement with you. Go Pies round 1.

Looking forward to seeing how mediocre Injurefield and Spewart lead the geriatrics on viagra. At least give some kids a chance to lead...

As much as I have always found Dangerfield to be a bit unlikeable as a person, seeing him in the agents documentary just released was seriously impressive.

Came in to the club during holidays, the day after his wife gave birth, to show Jack Bowes around the club and spoke about the history of the club etc...

Also had printed out text messages from mid season, long before the pick 7 deal was floated, communicating with the list management team, where Dangerfield was essentially working on that team and had identified Bowes as a player Geelong should target in trade.

Bowes had a very attractive offer from Hawthorn but Dangerfield was essentially the sole reason he selected Geelong instead, which delivered them pick 7.

Can see why they rate Dangerfield so highly down there.

When Bowes and the pick 7 join the rest of us in waking up to the fact Dangerfield is a complete flog, they will regret they fell for his all-for-the-cameras brown nosing facade. Draft picks aren’t worth as much these days and paying a hefty contract to Jack Bowes is not necessarily a list management masterstroke. Still, it has the Dangerfield signature all over it, gimmicky headline grabbing deal without much substance. Nice to see though the grate one finally turn up to the second half of a final in 2022….when the Cats were 10 goals up at half time.

The fact that his wife was probably in a nice private hospital in Geelong the day after the birth doesnt make the effort that extraordinary...

He obviously didnt have the same impact on Hopper.

Might have been Dusty who came in during his holiday to show Tarranto and Hopper around.

If you think it all went down as described there you don’t know much about the recruiting process. I’m sure Bowes was identified but totally not at the level it turned out to be.
Same with Hopper. He was in no way thinking of going elsewhere. It’s just window dressing To say he considered other clubs. There are many, many more things at play, as there always is with contract negotiations.
These deals usually do not happen in the draft period But rather months or even years before.

I know a little bit about it and if you think players don't weigh up competing offers in trade week and make a decision then you're wrong.

Yes, there is lots of work done before hand and cases where players have decided a long way out but also plenty of times when it happens late and there's no more than an inkling until the review.

Adam Kingsley was interviewed in the paper the other day and said our discussions last season were largely about whether we could get one of Taranto or Hopper.

No question in my mind Bowes was weighing up the three offers until then moment he made the call. And that Dangerfield was a big factor in his decision.

I didn’t say they didn’t weigh up trade week offers. Of course they do but as you say they were actively working on both Taranto and Hopper way out. the ground work was well and truly done. The Show Me the Money program you must recognise was very sanitised and of course none of the player managers were going to discuss what had gone on before because much of it is verboten by the AFL.
I also have a little knowledge on this too. Our friend Tiger 71 on Bigfooty mentioned early days that we were after both Hopper and Taranto well before the trade period. It was masterful work by Blair et al.
