The Herald Sun just could not help themselves

i`m rapt at this article, and the timing of it is perfect.
nothing wrong with stating facts in articles,it`s better than having people making things up and exagerrating.

our tackling stats are woeful, that`s a fact.

we don`t need our players feeling all warm and fuzzy about themselves heading into this season feeling as though it`s going to be easy.

a nice rocket on the eve of the first game is perfect.

I have no problem with a headline and article like this one. Its a bit of extra motivation.

Tackle counts are a tad misleading though, as the team with the highest tackle count often loses the game, it is a sign that they are chasing rather than creating.

Yet there's the example of Geelong's tackle count.

It's a lightweight, superficial article, but it's not to inaccurate by HUN standards.

Agree.

The article basically says "Richmond have a low tackle count, and that's not good" in far too many words.

It would have been better if he could have explored why we have a low tackle count.

Who knows, may Wallace has called in a favour and the article is exactly what Terry was hoping for this morning.

Ahh, your not reading in properly, it because we don't have enough passion.

I look forward to reading the insightful post game explation in the HUN where the team that won "just wanted it more" or "ran harder".

While I didn't mind the article as a whole, I did think that his comment that "the tigers lack character as a football team" was a bit harsh.
Probaly a very accurate assessment.
All fifteen captains rate Cartoon as final eight material, only a few rated us.
Archer has said publicly that you just knew that no matter how well the Tiges appeared to be playing that if you just hung in and kept applying pressure they would tighten up and give you a shot at beating them.
How often have we sat in disbelief and watched our boys freeze when they have appeared to be cruising.
Character is mental not physical and we've been fragile at best for years.

I thought the article was absolutely spot on and balanced. He included the better and worse players from a tackling perspective and even said that we made improvement over the pre season (based on pretty flimsy data)...

I almost called him up when he was on SEN tonight to congratulate him, but figured he's too much of a knob to deserve the praise!

agree with what the article implies. We are not North, or Sydney and in the past have tended to get pushed aside in by those types of sides - common knowledge that we have had that soft tag (as I always get reminded).

I interpret the article as this is all part of our evolution that is required to become a regular top side. If we don't get stronger in this area then we will continue to loose games against these types of teams.

I am happy that tonight we are the underdogs - everyone is tipping carlton and remember, this is only 1 of 22 matches (although important as it is a team we should beat)

he has picked us to win though,

I'm not sure he hates as such,(like Barret does), when you listen to him on SEN,

I think he wishes we would pull our fingers out and lift.

I am looking forward to the days when everyone hates us....again....the opposition and media. The days in the 60's to 80's when everyone was against us and we truly showed why we were the best and I know this will come around again soon!

It is here DHN, but for the wrong reasons. People hate us now becuase we are just so helpless.
