The Importance of Club Stability

Although I am very disappointed to see Hawthorn win the flag, since they now draw level with us, I think there are some aspects relating to the way they go about their business that we can learn from. The thing that struck me today was the message coming from captain and coach, that the stability they enjoy from within their club helps them to win on the field. This is an aspect that perhaps we have not done so well over a long period of time and recent reports suggest that we still have a way to go. From a member / supporter point of view I think we could learn a few things from Hawthorn, etc - and perhaps good players may want to come to Richmond at trade time.

why would you put your faith in players from other clubs parrot. lets continue to draft youth and stuff the mercinaries.

our mayjor problem is keeping our CEO. when is the last time we had a CEO who stayed at the club for 10+ years?

I agree with you that it is very important to continue to draft youth. I think Stuart Dew is a very good example of a good player being drafted, and adding a significant aspect to the team.

We are getting there Wright has been at the club for a while now Wallace 5th year next year & probably beyond March has been at the club for a fair stint was there under Casey.

You wouldn't want a CEO for longer than 10yrs anyway.

CEO's tend to work at one place as long as it takes to deliver an agreed "business plan". Steven Wrights may be based around the redevelopment of Punt Rd. If he can deliver that I think you would see him move on. The someone else would come in with the objective of X.

CEO's these days tend to have a speciality, and I maybe SW is the same.

Agree that stability is of the utmost importance, but also believe that stability doesn't mean no movement of key personel.

I see your point. But if you have a good CEO you don't want to lose them. I was spitting chips when Daffy left. He done his job and got Richmond out of debt but I would have loved to see him continue on. That period was one of the most stable times I have seen Richmond.

Yup, Nick Daffy was very talented ;D...we had no change of winning a premiership when he left us
