Would it be worth taking a punt on one of the Irish boys???
I like the guy they call "THE GOOCH"!!!! I didnt really see much of him but I hear he is a freak and I like his name. Reminded me a bit of Kelvin Moore. Anyone else you think could play for us?

If an opportunity arises, yes, yes, yes.

I heard a story not long ago about an Irish player going around in the AFL, apparently he asked Spud to come over to play AFL, but Spud rejected his offer. Apparently this player is progressing in leaps and bounds.

Can anyone shed abit more light on this if this is true?

There are pros and cons I suppose for wanting to recruit anyone that comes from another state let alone country.... maybe

Fiesty there are pros & cons driving to work and back.

Walking to the letter box there are pros & cons.

I was wondering if there were any pros & cons down at Fitzory St. :help

I have lived in Ireland for 5 years now, and there is plenty of young blokes here that could make AFL no problem whatsoever. General feeling amongst paddies who know AFL and GAA is that Cavanagh is a fool for not going to Brissy. GAA is becoming more professional although god forbid don't tell the Paddy's that. So teenagers who are playing county football are getting better equipped for the rigours of the game. A bit more exposure at an AFL club and they could make it for sure.

The 'Gooch' is a gun, but is somewhere around 22 I think and although skillfull is only a whippet. ala Bourkey, which is ok for GAA but not really suited to the tough stuff of AFL. Couldn't imagine him laying a decent tackle or taking too many hard tackles either. Poor bugger might break in half. Ross Mullally from Co. Laois is also a gun forward, bit like Browny with a great knack for the sticks but once again is not a big boy. Seen him take some serious punishment in a few games over here and bounce back up so he is tough, but once again is probably 22-23. I think there is definite propects amongst the young guys in Ireland and we all know they have explosive speed which would complement guys like Lids and Bling. maybe we need a talent scout over here ala Collingscum I think it is....

I'm expecting the Irish to come out on Friday Night and display more physical presence;
The question remains, do they have the stamina to belt the Aussies around for 80min?
I suggest they concentrate on teamwork first...it was sadly missed last Friday...a true reflection on their preparation for the series !

Just put "THE GOOCH" in the gym baby with our boy Simmo!
And as long as they are fast we could use a fair bit of spped especially a Tadgh Kennelly in the backline!

Tadgh Kenneally, had apparently spoken to Richmond, who did nothing more than speak.
Given the clubs finances, probably couldn't afford the airfare if the experiment failed.

Gooch is a popular surname - google it and see.

Probably the one I'm most familiar with is Graham Gooch - I think about England's top scorer.

A famous scalp of Warney's. ;D

Ouch! I didn't mean that pun about scalp as he also features in a hair-loss commercial.

Yes, that was him, thanks BW. What I heard, Spud wasn't interested...........anyway.
