Whilst I haven't gone down to see him play at Coburg I have been following the fortunes of Dean Limbach with great interest.

The kid sems to be a consistent goalkicker at VFL level when given a chance and has continually contributed around 3 or 4 majors a game. Then last week he was dropped down to Coburg ressies and duly kicked another 5.

I see his problem being the presence of Cleve Hughes. Big Cleve seems to be getting the opportunities ahead of Limbo and they seem to be competing for the same spot every week. Not that the Cleaver doesn't deserve it either. He's also been a consistent goalkicker at the lower levels.

So my question is where does Limbo fit in with Terry's plans right now? Are we a chance to see the Limbo Show at AFL level or is he going to struggle to find his niche at the club?

Thoughts???

From what I have seen of him at Coburg he is a hard-working player. I'm not sure he is quite as advanced as most of the other kids though. He looks light on and his kicking for goal is pretty ordinary. The potential to be agood player is there and he is worth persevering with.

If Limbo doesnt come on as quick as hoped,I see Limbo getting delisted at the end of this year and being redrafted as a rookie again, if possible..
Which is not a bad idea,he is still on the RFC list and if he developes,BANG his back as a listed player and in the meantime we can draft another kid with the vacancy he has left.

Is behind Hughes for one simple reason which is Hughes is a better player, Cleaver has shown a great deal to get excited about and i am not just talking in goals which he has kicked a few for Coburg so far, but is Cleves, ability to read the play, and his ability to provide strong leads at the right time to the right spot that impresses me, Hughes also is a very good grab and a very good kick for goal.
Limbach struggled last year and is still a ways away from a spot in the seniors, and with Cleves good form at Coburg he wont be in the tigers line up ahead of Hughes unless it is to give him a game for the sake of giving him one.

Dont forget peoples that i am not having a shot at Patto or Limbach when i say they arent as good as Cleaver, it is as simple as this that Cleaver is a class act and a natural key forward, whereas Patto is a ruck type not a key forward (maybe in the Benny gale mould). Limbach is not as assertive in his play and probably is not unfair to say he lacks the class of Hughes, he is more of a blue collar type....

Mostly I agree with you Craig but I don't know if Limbo's blue collar. I've seen him on the track and in intra-clubs and he looks like a pretty smooth mover for mine.

My point is that he kicks goals and could be valuable if he can push up the field a little bit and play as a half forward, maybe even wing. Could he do that do you think???

i don't know if he could...has anyone that's seen him noticed his pace?

...if so is he a quick or a plodder?

he kicked 5 in the reserves last week

this week he'll have more competition for the Coburg goals but he'll be aiming for another bag.

Isn't it interesting. With the Burgers doing well and the RFC youngsters improving and with established players coming back from injury the pressure for selection is hitting the Burgers as well.
