The List - My 2 Cents

Longest current Richmond player to play without playing a final.
Hopefully not too much longer!!
Do you won't me to go on?

Sure go on, and go on and tell Chris to HURT someone. Preferably an opposition team. Nice arms though Chris. Seriously I think he has a lot more potential. Could be a real real good AFL player if he wanted.

Everyone is allowed to have their own opinons, that's what is all about
But it's pretty obvious you've never looked at the 1%'s that make up a footy club. ie. "chase". remember a couple of chases during the season where all looked lost and he gave a desperate lunge and caught the bloke, and in the International rules where he ran down the guy from 30 metres away and saved a goal. "Heart" the game against Freo in WA where he broke two ribs and punctured a lung but so he could get on the plane and try and play the next week he had a tube inserted in his chest hanging outside his body to relieve the pressure and he did play the next week.
That's why he's Vice Captain, that's what the people a the club see and that's why he's going to be around in 2011

I am sickened about how many people strongly agreed with this (this is pretty negative)!
Based on this assessment we should clear the lot out and start again.

Although I understand this post is about 2011 it is not a fair assessment of the current list (Carlton were not the only team that tanked last year). Our position is more related to history pre 2005. I am a long time reader...and now first time poster!

I should start with the key points that I do agree with you (because some were accurate):
- Edwards will be a gun
- Polak should be considered for CHF...(with his hands he is wasted at CHB)
- Thursfield is exiciting
- Conners and Foley can play...i reaaly hope the former really wants to achieve a high level

May I respond with the following comments (for your responce):

1 - Newman
He is way above an average Richmond player and will be our next capitain
Never gets beaten and is absolutely uncomprimising (not sure of the spelling here)

2 - Thursfield
Agree with you - excellent future defender (proven himself at the level in 2007)

3-Lids
Other teams tag him first.
He won't be "nervous"...he needs others to step up as quickly as him (so he dosen't get tagged every week)!

4-Raines
"He has been instructed to run, carry and take on players...and he's good at it" - dificult to play this type of game with a wooden spoon side (just wait to see him in 2008)

5-Simmonds
This guys has busted his ass for RFC since getting here
Has proved value
Would rather see Simmo out there than a "potential ruckman"
(remember the All Aust hype in 2006)

6-Polak
I would love to see him play a season at CHF

7-Brown
Your call on browny was tough for a hard working unlucky bloke
He will be very important for the next 3 years
Will need luck with body to make it to 2011

8-Reiwoldt
He's not slow...just weak (cause he's young)
Should be given the same respect you've given Cotchin and Co

9-Cotchin
I'm so glad the cheats to Josh Fraser's long lost cousin Kruizer...we got the best

10-Edwards
Can play!
Looking forward to seing what he becomes

11-Bowden
Give him a break...rarely gets beaten
Had question marks on him 7 years ago...then found CHB/FB

12-Richo
Not he's fault he's a one man band (who else would you call a key forward for RFC in the last 10 yrs)
The biggest match winner we have had for 25 years
I will be extremely sad the day he plays his last game

13-Sanchez
To be fair, I have question marks on this guy too
Has talent but,,,

14-Polo
He won't be at the farm for a long time!
Still young and building body...has talent
Extemely couragous playing 5+ games with a busted shoulder last year

15-Pettifer
Continues to improve
Got to love the celebrations of the pet-if-file

16-McGuane
Can play, just need to find the right body shape (to be consistent)

17-Johnson
Has had no luck since coming from Adelaide

18-Rance
19-Putt
Seem great draft choices

20-Morton
Rocket Eade described this trade as the best of the draft...he's very talented
He can play...was young in top 3 side (hard to crack it)

21-Tuck
Agree with you...good tough midfielder

22-Mayer
Also agree with you
I'm hoping injuries have been holding him back

23-Jackson
Best stopper we have at the moment
Can also get the ball on the way back and kick goals
You clearly never saw the Brisbane game last year

24-Cogs
Cant wait to have him back
Will still be there in 2011

25-*smile*
I'm concerend here to...
Needs better fitness (hasn't ever had a great pre-season) to be able to cut it

26-Pattison
Agree

27-Collard
agree with some of your concerns, but can play....but will he in 2011

29-JON
...lets hope he's injured (I too have reservations)

30-Bling
Too young to write him off yet
Will bloom soon...has had young family and this would have hindered development

31-Hyde
Won't be there in 2011, but has contributed

32-Tivendale
Not sure what you're trying to say about Tiv, but I don't think he's done much wrong (apart from playing in a bad team most of his career)

33-Gourdis
I'm pretty excited about this bloke
Massive frame and loves to attack the footy...anyone hear about his speed!!!

34-Hughes
Do agree here too
Has won the "Pea Heart Award" two years running

35-White
Your assessment is fair

36-Silvester
I wouldn't be surprised if Sil was the reason King looked good at Coburg in 2006
Looking forward to seeing him in 2008

37-Casserley
On the list only two years, and has been injured
When he has played he looks like a Malcheski type (actual spelling may vary)

38-Cartledge
Best ruckman from VFL
Might do a Tucky???

39-Conners
Will be a key player in 2011

40-Moore
Will he repay the faith?

41-Foley
It is a pleasure watching him
Does need mates as is injured at the moment

42-Collins
To early to tell

43-Howat
Looked like he had huge potential in 2006, huge endorsements on PRE
Don't know what happened in 2007???

44-Graham
"The distance to Jupiter to go" is a tough call
He's young and shown very good signs against experienced ruckman at VFL level

46-King
I love this fella too
Need a good "Rex Hunt" (slang) in the side

As a true Tiger, I'd like to remain positive at this point in the season.

I hope you appreciate my responce.

I'm all for positivity, could never be accused of being a darksider... BUT:

Newman never gets beaten? He gets FREQUENTLY beaten, and when he does, it's generally small forwards kicking bags of goals on him because he refuses to man up.

Riewoldt IS slow. Like, really slow.

Jackson is no way our best stopper. If we're rating players on good games against Brisbane, then Schulz is a 6-goal kickin' superstar.

Andrew Carrazzo absolutely smashed him in round 1 last year. Loose & unaccountable - about to take Tiva's mantle. Not a captain's bootlace.

sf3801, you've been staring into the sun for too long - not everything's as bright as you make out. We have a team of players who are inexperienced or coming off injury. There is improvement happening but it takes time. We're a long way off yet.

Being positive is one thing; being blind to our limitations is another.

We have gone from dead last in the original post to knocking Geelong off in this one, some where in the middle would be ok by me!

I have to agree with some of the posts.

Newman does get beaten on occasions. I remember Phil Matera gave him a real touch up a couple of seasons back.
But his good games are starting to far out weigh the bad ones.

With the Carrazzo one at the start of last season. I reckon we should cut him a bit of slack for that one.
He was coming back from a broken leg as bad as Browny and Goose McGuire's and Browny's only just getting back to normal and Goose is still struggling.
We got all the "Don't expect too much from Browny" stuff but he(TW) put Newman straight onto one of their main players.

As for being loose, I think the idea with him was if he got the chance, to be the receiver and use his good kicking skills to hit up a target further up field. But I agree you still have to cover the defensive side to.

I reckon with McMahon here now he might get freed up abit more at get a bit furthr up he ground and into the middle occasionally

PS. Welcome aboard sf3801. There's nothing wrong with being positive ;) ;)

To start with. Be like Sir 'whatever his name is' from monty pythons holy grail ;D
No all good fun. Don't let it deter you SF. Keep your opinions coming mate :clap

Great to see some people still think we are on top the ladder instead of the freaking bottom but that's life in the greenhouse. For the record, I never said Newman was a left footer. I also thought I said I thought he was a fairly good player who I thought could do a bit better if he thought so but some people don't think I thought that.

I thought it was a good post TTT. How can anyone be so positive about a list which delivered last place behind a shamefully tanking Carlton and gave the coach no real options. Young list means plenty of potential and a huge amount of risk that the potential won't be realised. Still I'll be cheering every youngster that comes on and turns into a decent AFL footballer.

Yeah good call.
But we're going into a new season.
Just humour us diehard Tigers for awhile.
If I wanted to here all the negative crap before the season started I'd go onto Big"Playschool" footy and put up with their rubbish!
Let's at least get a few rounds in before the doom and gloom starts
