The new breed.

One thing that has been noticeable to most is that when the Tigers do get belted it isn't the kids who let the side down, it's the older, more experienced guys who should know better. I'd say TW would have seen that as well and will act accordingly when the time comes to make the hard decisions.

Agree with you CTT - Like TW would have missed that ??? But he still has to aim for a finals appearance next season - even on his own statements and undertakings!

The topic is the NEW BREED - not the old brigade!

For mine Howat has been great so far, Raines - brilliant, Polo dependable with occasional flair, Matty White angry with dash, Lids (say no more), and my man, Tambling, is getting better, his touches are surer, is playing with a little more time to consider his options. Patto too is improving with each game this year and his next season will be very interesting. Jon, not enough to get excited or disappointed about yet, same with Casserly and Cleve (though his leading was very good).

Our new breed (a parcel of say ten) is as good as any going around at other clubs at mo with maybe the exception of Brisbane!

What about the other 11 good games he played this year. ;D ;D
What about them?
As a senior player he should have played alot more good games than bad one, hes sh*t and everyone knows it and if TW is serious about becoming a top 8 team he has to go.

Beautifully said check. :-*

GO TIGES!!!

I am very worried about the new breed... my fear as that they are being asked for too much too soon by the coaching staff... too many of these young blokes are getting injured and in my opinion, aren't or weren't ready for the rigours of afl football.

I have had similar concerns although I think some have been groomed easily over the last few seasons for a tilt at it and ave ocme along nicely such as Raines 3 rd season, Polo 2nd. THey wil lget bigger bodies, JON however should have been held back. Each pklayer is different.

Tivendale would be a good player in a better side, where he got support, and was allowed to run into space. When that happened this year he hurt sides, but too often, he got caught because, he gets the pill, no-one shepherds, talks or supports. It doesn't help that he's one-sided either, bu the lack of hard, hard running mids, really doesn't do anything for Richmonds outside runners. They only ever get a metre of space, not 10 like Cousins, Judd & Fletcher repeatedly got on Saturday.

It's not only Tiv who lacks support, bigwow. Few players seem to have the confidence in their teammates to be there to talk support etc. Guess this will come with experience though.......

I've been waiting 25 years for this. I'm just using Greg as an example. We have no-one who will sacrifice and run 100 metres, even though they won't get a touch, or  leave their opponent to shepherd, or create space. It's been a endemic problem for a long time. It's basic stuff you learnt in under 10's, was to help your team mates who have the ball, either with your body or your voice. Too many stand back and wait for the ball to come to them. They could take a leaf from Cam Howats' book, he will at least do the 1%ers.
I still think Aaron Fiora would be a good footballer, in a good side, a lack of support, and poor coaching killed his confidence at RFC, when allows space to work in, he's been handy at St Kilda. Richmond need an Aaron hamill type to clear a path for the outside runners.

Well said.  :clap

I thought in second (MCG) game against St Kilda, the Saints showed how this should be done. Time and again out of the centre there was a wave of 2 or 3 St Kilda players shielding the 4th player out of the centre, giving him time and space. Without pressure from behind, Tivva, this year, has been fantastic at spotting players up, 40-50 metres away, almost as well as Leon Cameron did in his first year at Punt Road. He clearly has shown he doesn't naturally sense when he is about to get run down, and doesn't find a good option often enough under pressure. I think we should work more on the talk, running to shepherd and running to support (as Cousins did time and again) much more than trading Tivendale, as these team characteristics will make any players who don't do as well under pressure look much better. I'm sure every premiership side still has a few 'outside' players who cough it up under pressure, but have massive class with time and space.

Too true, MacGill... goes easy on the pups... don't want our next lot to all be crippled like the blokes coming through in 93 through 97...
