The new coach.

The next coach has to be the guy that puts the building blocks in place for his successor to follow. That's why I'd prefer an experienced coach such as Malthouse, he'll have to handle the flack from the media, the supporters and quite probably his own bosses within his club. There isn't an inexperienced senior coach who could deal with all that. It's going to take 10 - 15 years to turn the current rabble into a genuine flag prospect and that's why we as supporters can't keep thinking the next coach is going to be the one that takes Richmond up the ladder.

Look I very much agree with you CTT BUT if experience has taught us anything, if you are an assistant coach at Richmond then you have ended your senior coaching career. We go badly, the players play like crap and can't handle pressure or kick straight then as an assistant coach its like contracting leprousy - other clubs just don't want you. Look at Royal, big tickets on him when he came to us and I for one was grateful he was here based on his skills development rep... don't think his future is going to be huge.

I think we are all agreed the next five years are going to be tough. Campbell is going to have to be a Saint to survive it and transition from assistant to Head coach.

The best coach if we can snare him is Malcolm Blight, outstanding record at the Cats and Crows, not sure if he wants to coach or not.

Just happy to fly in from the Gold Coast to commentate mate - no chance.

Interesting comment. Was Sheedy the last RFC Assistant Coach to get a senior gig somewhere else?

The next coach has a lot of work to do........

On that we are brothers ;) It will be an incredibly difficult tightrope to walk, let alone being so hard to dig through all chicken manure just to get to work.............. ;D

The next coach needs to fix the club first.
Malthouse would not take the crap that goes on. He has a great record over 2-4 years and would be worth considering.
Something evil lurks at the heart of the club where players succumb to pressure too easily. Either we recruit introverts or the club thurns them into introverts.
Didn't Allan Richardson coach Coburg a few years ago?

Thanks oh quiet one. I still know nothing about him. Where does he "coach" right now? Why is he regarded so highly? Would he make a great senior coach, and why?? Ah, the agony of the RFC!!

the secret is to tank with style. If you manage to lose narrowly each week but with encouraging performances and keep your eyes firmly on the prize, then you are nailing it. Then, with hopeful signs and priority picks, prospective coaches look at you with interest.

Alan Richardson is at Essendon currently and was previously at Collingwood. He is definitely highly regarded.

Done it before,it does not work.Remember Richmond has finished ninth too many times.Any prospective coach would look at that and wonder why?

i notice how some posters are suggesting we "tank with style".How the hell do you engineer that?

tanking with style is the way to go.

if a coach tanks and gets the draft picks into the team and games into the young players. in a few years time, he will be congratulated for that.

but if a coach doesn't do it when his side is out of contention and just try to squeeze out wins. in a few years time when the team is still struggling, no one will remember those few useless wins at all.

which would u do??....i'd tank if i was the coach

Yesterday's effort just might stave off the inevitable for TW. At a guess, he will front the board tomorrow and point to the improved effort on Sunday as reason for him to see out the rest of the year. A big loss might have seen him gone sooner rather than later. Will be interesting to see what happens. If he gets the bullet, we will soon know, as the media will go frenetic.
