Under various threads I know this topic has been discussed, analysed and debated, but wanted to have my say anyway.
Wallace is gone that is a given. When is another question, still to be answered. But who is to replace him?? All I hope is that the club selects someone young. Not a Malthouse, Sheedy, Matthews or a discarded coach out of contract from another club. There have been some comments in the media about a certain Alan Richardson who I think might be an assistant coach at Essendon. According to the panel on "On the Couch," he is ready to coach. I know nothing of him, except he is young and again according to the commentators he has a good football brain. Damian Hardwicke is another who has been mooted on here, but again, apart from seeing him play for the Dons, I know nothing of his coaching ability.
The trend is to appoint younger coaches who are up with the modern trend of footy. Guy McKenna at Gold Coast and Voss at the Lions. IMHO, it is not a good idea to appoint a coach who still has old ideas of a game now vastly different to the style played yesterday. Speed, rolling zones, hanballs galore, you name it, the game is so different.
I would not presume to know who would be best, but hope for all our sakes, the club chooses wisely and hopefully picks a younger man for the job. So now, those are my thughts for the day!!
