Who should Richmond draft with Pick No.1?

Very interesting thread.....and justifies WHY the club chose Bling ahead of some of the others.
Time to embarass some names ;D:

The 2 most outstanding propects IMO are Tambling & Deledio. In a close call, i would go Tambling with the No. 1 pick for the following reasons:
  • As stated previously, Tamblings purported weight of 68kg was a red herring.....footydraft.com now has the following statisitics - Hgt: 181cm Wgt: 74kg ....... not bad for a kid that has just turned 18.
  • He has brilliant skills, lightning pace, an extremely attacking player that also has a great defensive side (i.e. 1%'s... tackling & smothering), clean hands & excellent ability around the stoppages (ability to win his own ball).
  • He is the most decorated player available in the draft (AIS/AFL Academy 2001Allan McLean Medal 2002 (best player in Division 2 of Under 16's Carnival), Northern Territory 2002, 2003, 2004 (Captain), H.G Harrison Medal 2004 (best player in Division 2 of Under 18's Carnival), All Australian 2004, MVP of Northern Territory 2004, National Draft Camp 2004)
  • Has proved himself playing against men (Southern Districts in the NTFL)!
In short....no doubts that this kid will be a superstar.

I now believe Franklin will be a ruckman. That's probably not a radical take on him. If that's the club's take it may make for KPP selections at 12 and 16.

.Forget about Franklin altogether and gamble on Williams being available at either 12 or 16 pending on who else is available.

Yes, good entries there.
As we are coming very close to the draft, and as we have the no.1 pick, some important decisions have to be made between some star players.
We all have a pretty good idea about the players:
Deledio - Bruce Monteath type.
Tambling - Maurice Rioli type.
Griffen - compromise between above 2 types.
Of these 3 Tambling is currently the only inside midfielder.

Sorry people...but time to be exposed! :hihi

I wish someone at the RFC had future hindsight, if you get my drift

What happened to Griffin, surelyb he is in the top 3 if not #1,
i hope we get Deledio, Griffin, Roughead & Lewis and i would be happy

i wish i was calling out on draft day?

So after drafting Lids and Hawks and Dogs got Roughy and Griffen, you would have gone Lewis at 4 ?

Phantom and other junior footballer gurus,

Can anyone tell me anything about a Joe Barker who is 16 and and is currently training with the Northern Knights having previously been involved with Oakleigh. Movement of clubs due to relocation of living address.

The reason I ask is that he is a son of a guy at work who reckons he is going to be world beater but I'm not yet sure if he is full of sh!t.

He may be too young to be known at this stage.
Tell him jb hes full of sh!t

Good read. Forget how highly considered Bling was at the time....... I'm still confident he'll come good.........that many pundits can't be wrong can they?

Not sure about raising it but would Claw's picks of Lids & Lewis (griffen taken by 4 ) be considered thus far as the best result for solving our dire midfield problem? Would they be currenty be thought of as the best extracter and finisher of those available?

12 lewis-monfries am being hopeful.
after these picks im prepared to let beck do his job. as long as wallace and miller are lookking over his shoulder.

that was some fun reading :cutelaugh

still think Lids will rule over Buddy at careers end, Buddy can only avoid happy hour for so long :rofl

I may be wrong though, I clapped when they revealed the "unleash the geish" banner.......we all have moments in our lives we regret ::) (I will never live THAT down)

You missed my best one about Nance Bloody Flankling, Livers- "Sleeps with the lights on."

Thanks, but he’s got a long way to go. We suffer enough from the one game/one year fascination thing with our own players (!) let alone opposition clubs……

hes been solid for perth reddog the only reason he hasnt been given more games was that moron connolly. besides i rate the dockers kpd stocks.pretty hard to force a game with mcpharlin mundy johnson even grover can play tall. harvey had the good sense to play him forward and give hime a go and reaped the rewards.
