I'm happy with how our sides developing. But as I've been saying on a few threads, most young players need time to develop. The system has gone through changes that dictate they don't get as much time as they once did, wages, list sizes etc, but the expectations of some fans and 'experts' of some players are getting ridiculous.
In the olden days when I was a kid, lots of players were late developers. Lists were big and wages small. Didn't get a game until early 20s, then in and out of the side for a few seasons, before becoming a key player in mid 20s. Jim Jess and Darren Millane are 2 that spring to mind. Not everyone is a Tim Watson, Roach, Judd or Deleidio. A lot of people pay lip service to this fact, then come out and say "pattison won't make it' or 'Jackson hasn't got it'. If J. Jess was a draftee now there'd be people on PRE saying 'will not make it hasn't got it'
Support the young blokes, take the trip with 'em. Sure they won't all make it we all know that, but think before you post and err on the side of positive-ness.
