No Doubting we are short.

Sheedy will have watched and learned from how hard it was for us when Lance was in attack along side Waite and Fev

IF johns is fit I expect to see Bradley (Whon IMHO is year away from being any good) Lucas, Johns and Hille all up forward.

The option for TW will be to throw Knoble in to the fray and use simmo up back, or just rely on us having an extra small quick to keep the ball away from their talls.

I favour the extra small.

Yeah sure Sheedy would have watched the game, but I bet you in the back of his mind he would be thinking about the 2 road trips and how the Tigers have shown gonads. Just the pride the Tigers have shown over the last two weeks would be a concern to Sheedy, something that wasn't around at Mildura earlier this year.

We have looked much better over the last couple of weeks precisely because we have played small.  Raines and Newman have been able to match up on third type talls, been competitive in the air and run off them at every opportunity.

Essendon, however, are another matter with Lucas, Hird, Hille, Bolton and others all capable of going forward.  Another bigger body down there might be needed this time.  It is such a crying shame that Thursfield went down!

The match up that I am dying to see is Deledio on Hird.  It would make my night to watch him run off Hird in defence and sit on his hammer in the midfield.  A couple of long runs with Hird trailling after Deledio early and Hird would be ordering the ambulance at half-time!

I reckon Staff is too slow for this role - would be beaten on the lead every time by a quick leading forward. Staff is better value up forward where he requires a key backman to man him up. He can't play two shockers in a row - can he???

Maybe Jacko could come back in and play as an extra tall in defence.

We need staff to strech their defense a tiny bit, seriously I cant wait for Richo to towell up either Fletcher or Soloman, thats been a long time comming

Richo had a good game last year when the bombers and Solly especially lost the plot - don't know who played on him at the time tho, maybe Solo-man?

People say we are cursed but the footy gods looked favourable on us when the Soloman deal didnt go thru,he might be a tough player but he is dumb, undisciplined and guilty of regurlar turn overs, and would have cost us heaps too.

If our backline is a tad undersized against the Bombers could McGuane be a surprise selection this week?  He had a task on Sunday and stuck to it well I read.  Is the game at the 'G'?  If so......... conditions are more important than size.  Anyone know whether Hughes has played back at a pinch?

Rodan is a highly likely drop to Coburg - hope he goes back and gets some form.  Knobel may come in his place for midfield ruck contests while Simmo is loosened up to protect the back half.  Our Johnson is a likely out too - I expect Humm to come in for him rather than Polo (though Polo thrashed Franklin a week ago and went OK on the weekend apparently).

correct!  If Staffo kicked goals instead of points, his contribution would be seen differently.   Sheedy will definitely tag team Richo (two talls and a small running player), their thrust is a loaded backline using fast midfielders for delivery.

No problem having Staffo, Troy & Knoble if conditions suit.  Three different rucking combinations are often hard to overcome.

Yep - another overpriced backman. Just what we don't need.

This game is far too imprtant to punt on injured players..

Sugar, Brownie and Gas no chance

Rodan may get one more chance

I'd be a heck of a lot more worried if Greg Louganis was playing this week.

I think when you look at the potential matchups our defence doesn't look too bad and could really hurt them going the other way. Lucas will be their main focus up forward but Hall is the obvious choice for that task and I think Ray will do a job on him.

I too like the idea of Lids on Hird. If nothing else it'd be a great lesson for our youngster against the wiley ol' Bomber champ.
