Lets face it Terry has the gift of the gab and is a polite and likeable bloke.
He was a good player who experienced the ultimate with Hawthorn and has now coached for almost 10 seasons with 2 prelim finals the highlights of his career.
In his time as player/media person/coach, Terry has developed great friendships with the likes of Mike Sheehan, Mark Robinson, Rex Hunt, Gerard Healy, Robert Walls............the list goes on.
All of these people have key roles in the media and have a big say when they write their articles or talk on radio/tv.
Is it any wonder then that there is only "speculation" and "rumours" in the papers and on radio about Terry's coaching future?
Whenever I hear a talkback caller give it to Terry on the radio he is defended more often than not with, "well they were wooden spooners last year, this year is a great improvement".
What a crock!
Why did we finish last in 2007? We finished 9th in 2006 FFS!
There is no doubt Terry is looked after by his mates, if it was anyone else he would have been hung, drawn and quartered by now.
Terry can talk about his graphs, and not wanting to coach anywhere else, but the facts remain:
Our list is still lacking in many areas
Our skills are some of the worst in the league
We lack up and coming KPP's
We have a plethora of skinny flankers
Giving up first round picks
Still last in tackles in the comp
Still underdeveloped/lightweight players outmuscled very easily
and...................................
Still no finals after 4 seasons.
