The question of discipline

Craw this is wrongest you've ever been I think. Yes, Picket has has a few stints where he's been out of form, like a lot of good players, But for most of his career you'll find he's been very good or red hot.

You are just extrapolating that period when he was out of form and made a few late hits and attracted heaps of media, to his whole career, very blinkered, one dimensional analysis which is plain wrong.

As for being an unworthy NS medal winner, did you watch the game? He has an undisputed blinder of a game. Burgoine could have won it as well like most year, but you can't say Pickett didn't deserve it.

I agree with interested, Melbourne have definately lifted their physical intensity, Byron is playing well, maybe there is a link.

Craw I posted this on the 'wat we need' thread and you never responded. Would you mind responding?

Yes, Picket has had some form slumps during which he's let loose with a few cheap hit out of frustration.

He's not the first big-game star to have done this, think Brereton, merritt and Matthews, just off the top of my head.

What Pickett has also done though Craw, which is on the record forever, is laid big hits at crucial times in big games that have lifted the side, and also played great games. One NS, well deserved, and he was in the mix for the NS in the North flag he played in. On this one you are unequivically, undisputeably, W.R.O.N.G

Give the craw a break people. I didn't start this thread to try to alienate anyone who's views differ from the majority. Fwiw, I pretty much agree with craw (maybe without such vehemence) - did I say that - oh no, not the craw!!!

The Claw does a good job of alienating himself without your help HipHopper.

i'm with claw here. pickett is a sniper. he prefers to go the man than the ball. you also don't need to be a star player to win a norm smith. imho he wasn't BOG in the 04 granny anyway. it should have been wankaneen or shaun burgoyne

The Kangaroos have gone downhill since he left. The Power have been powerless since they failed to support him last year. Melbourne have grown a backbone this year since the Byronator arrived.

No coincidence.

Has there been a premiership side in recent years which has not had an enforcer?

obviously we are poles apart when it comes to byron. look he can be very damaging with the ball. but every one talks of him as a tough guy. to me tough guys giveth and tough guys taketh. you mention mathews dermott and merrett well the difference between them and byron is that they copped plenty thru their careers byron just dishes it out and ive seen take short steps a few times when hes at a disadvantage for the other 3 it would be unthinkable. as for the ns he picked up most of his possesions running forward of the play all day did he actually have a hard ball get. imo there were many more deserving recipients than byron.
going by the above post we are always going to disagree about him.

Not looking to give the claw any help, antman. I'm quite sure he doesn't need my assistance anyway. Would just prefer we actually debated the topic I had swimming around in my head.

i see byron had one of his better days today. dud that he is.

I'm with the Claw on this one. I concede that Byron can play the game, but he rarely puts his head over the ball to win the contested possession. He always changes his line and/or speed, ensuring he is second to the contest, waiting for his opponent to put their head over the ball so he can pick them off.
