The Stats that count.

15 of the 22 players didn't run far enough to require taking a bounce.

J.Bowden
S.Tuck
K.Johnson
G.Tivendale
P.Bowden
K.Pettifer
A.Krakouer
M.Coughlan
A.Kellaway
T.Simmonds
D.Rodan
D.Gaspar
A.Pattison
R.Tambling
J.Schulz

15 out of 22, little wonder we got thrashed by over 100 points. ::)

Didn't Krak have 7 tackles? himself.

Now that's interesting.

I distinctly remember the Champion Data stats in the Hun stating that Krakouer had 5 clearances. These stats indicate that he had only 1 clearance. 5 against 1, that's a big difference.

I'll have to check that again, when I get home.

But does he always get these tackles counts because he is so slow and always second to the ball?

The clearances deos impress me though.

Would like to know the following;
1 when we got the clearances where he was playing?
2 what part of the ground where they in?
3what happened after the clearacnes?

Might watch the tape and try and find out.

No way Krak only had 1 clearance, I can think of three off the top of my head from the bounce.

Thanks for the stats Phantom, too many people carry on that "stats mean nothing", usually just before they launch into a character assasination of either tiv, Krak or Pettifer.

Of course it's much easier to rant on about the usual suspects than to actually watch the game without predjudice and read the stats with a rational mind.

From my reading of the stats Krak had the most 1st possesions for the team and clearly the most tackles, which should shut up the darksiders who state that Krak only gets tackles because he is 2nd to the ball.

He may be slow, but he put a few of the other midfielders to shame on friday night with his in and under midfield work. (Well done also to Foley, equal second in first possessions)

At this particular point in time I don't care about what the stats say, we are all aware of last Friday's performance, what I would like to see from the team this Friday is determination, intimidation, and a spirit to win, something no stats can show.

Shows us something Tigers!

Yeah, absolutely GPB, I'm looking forward to a huge turnaround from the whole team as well mate. I want to see the side hungry like we were in some big games last season. Half our problem is we just can't play at the dome...by the time it one day becomes a ground we'll do alright on after our young pace comes through, most sides in the comp will have done the same with their list!

Rayzorwire there are tackles and there are tackles. Some of our players need to make them count on the ground rather than the stats sheet. ;)

Couldn't agree more Rosy, they got out of far too many of our tackles. Still, I remember Krak and Tambling making a few stick. One aspect of our tackling which really frustrated me was the way some players made one-handed appeals to the umpire for a holding the ball decision and in the process let the ball out! More junior footy type mistakes from players who should know better...

Again, too many senior leaders in that list - they are too slow to get time to bounce the ball. Having said that, I won't be too disappointed if Tivendale doesn't get a bounce stat for the entire season but delivers early and long instead. :hihi

Be interesting to see what you come up with Phantom - I suspect it was closer to five than one. Personally, I thought the work rate of Krakouer and to a lesser extent Tambling helped keep us in the game for the first half.

To some extent I'm sure they do SCOOP, but perhaps they also suggest that many of our other midfielders are so slow/lacking in work rate they don't get near enough the contests to lay any effective tackles whatsoever? Either that or when they do they are far too easily brushed aside...
