The Vulnerables

Based on Thursday night I'd say Raines is much further behind Jacko in terms of decision making. Jacko was as quick as anyone else with his decision making on Thursday night and generally made the right decision, albeit the options were severely limited due to how the other players were positioning themselves. On the other hand, there were numerous occasions were Raines took 2-3 too many steps and lost critical linking options that could have lead to very quick ball movement from the HB.
There's your problem right there.

okay the vulnerables or badly neded upgrades.
Raines - have him in a group of three, with jackson and polo could keep just one of the three my preference is polo.disposal and smarts are badly lacking goes about it the right way and becuse of this we may get something for him. we may not as well.hes in his 6th yr as well.
Jackson - similar to raines in some ways just doesnt have the footy smarts decision making is terrible at times. has a nice long kick but rarely uses it. also in his 6th yrive seen enough.
Polo - have concerns about his disposal has a good defensive side to his game and can find the footy. this is his 5th yr and he is very borderline ive put him in this category because i think we can and should do better. another poor kick as well half the players ive mentioned on this thread are either suspect kicks or decision makers or both.
Polak - shocking kick and for a big bloke totally lacks a physical presence sick and tired of seeing him pushed out of contests by blokes he should bury.
Bowden - soft slow player whos best is way behind him and is holding up the development of our kids.
Mcmahon. - one dimensional very outside player who is as soft as they come. has no accountability at all is still 7 kg below weight and for someone whos supposed to be in the side for his delivery butchers the ball way to often. there are other more rounded players who should be playing in front of him. again hes one whos stopping the development of others.
Pettifer - one of the dumbest decisions i have seen a footy club take when they failed to delist him last yr.hes the forward line version of mcmuffin. is in his 9th yr of abject mediocrity. i ask how has he lasted so long.
JON - About to enter his 4th yr. has not done anything at all to suggest he should be kept. sometimes you just have to cut yr losses and run. hanging on in hope only makes the mistake worse.
Schulz - dumb lazy footballer no smarts and poor at ground level.in his 7th yr again why have we hung on for so long.
Pattison - has a dip does les but skills pace agility are all lacking he may have a motor but it seems lacks in every other area. should have been delisted why go into a 5th yr with such a deficient player.
Johnson - has been a solid afl citizen but clearly the game has caught him up should of been made to retire at the end of last yr.
Hughes - the great white hope of the forward line. entering his 4th yr is a very one dimensional player good kick but lacks intensity a defensive side and ground game. also doesnt seem to take many contested marks if he doesnt get it on the lead he just doesnt give anything else. ive seen enough and would not hesitate to cut him at yrs end.
White - for a small his skills just dont cut the mustard. we have to many turn over merchants we have to upgrade on whitey unfortunately.for someone with similar attributes but can use the ball and has smarts.is in his 4th yr.
Silvestor - another mid boggling decision by the club to keep him on. just not up to it.
King - just plain to small and very poor skills. yes we all love the way he plays but that alone is not good enough.
Graham - i think he is a decent tap ruckman but the skills are not to good we need to do better hes probably safe for a short time.
Tambling - in his 5th yrgives glimpses but also shows how does one say it a bad side. very soft doesnt have a position and inconsistent. imo should be given the role of a hunter and played of hb. hes very much in the gun in his 5th yr he either steps up or risks being cut/traded.
Coughlan - have lumped him here because i just dont think he will get back. i also think you cant play all of hislop thomson tuck jackson johnson and cogs in the one team just to slow and just to many poor kicks. if cogs gets back to somewhere close to his best he will be safe.

finally i have missed one player in edwards where to place him imo hes vulnerable his kicking is not good i would like for us to do better. hes safe in the short term and may well find a way to play within his limitations.

spot on,and sadly the truth, hard for Tiger followers to stomach.
Bowden can still play, but as a forward.
Coughlan still may produce
Polo may improve, is at least calm under pressure
Hyslop shows nothing
Have to laugh at someones suggestion that Pattison can play CHF. He cant catch the ball!!!
Keep drafting skilled players. Now a days, anything less is a disaster.
Keep searching for skilled kids.
Its a long term, constant process. There are no quick fixes.

White had 10% of his 20 touches classed as clangers, two kicks which we all saw. That means 90% were OK. If everyone had a 90% upside to their disposals we'd all be happy campers. No one on here has a crack at Axel and he's a bloody ordinary kick, but he's not bagged because he's our "clearance specialist" etc.

Oh and White did kick a super goal, therefore must have been on target at least once and from outside 50. Not too bad from a small guy.

Personally I think Matt is down on confidence at the moment. Saw him train a few weeks ago, and his kicking wasn't that great. From what the ball as doing after it left his boot, I thought he might have been kicking across the line of the ball and not through it. It was curving quite a bit.

But he will be back. I think the coaches just need to let him play one position for 5-6 weeks. I am getting a bit sick and tired of watching players being thrown all over the place in matches. Maybe it is part of their development, I don't know, but I struggle to see how any player (Richo excluded) can show their best if they are constantly trying to adjust their game to the requirements of a different position.
